Thanks for your thoughts. We're safe and reasonably dry in South East Queensland, but in other parts of the state a total area the size of Texas is under water. Let Gayle know that there is an opening for Ark plans down here.

Have you been to www.nmsc.gov.au and read AS1799? Also Glen-L publication, "Boatbuilding 101" has some info to help you with the calculations too.

Re: does anyone know how to "kerf" the forward battens??

On my Monaco build I cut a kerf through the broad side of the batten i.e. from outside to inside. The two legs were then glued between the kerf and fitted to the hull, gladwrap around the notches of course. I just left the end overhang the stem. After the glue dried the batten was removed to clean u...

Sorry Tim, just pulling your leg. I was referring to the similarities of your boat to the colours of the building in the background.

Re: "Down Under" projects/potential gathering register

Put me down for the Oz gathering, just have to finish the boat first. I am a Monaco builder, south of Brissie. Deck should be going on shortly. Hope to be completed mid 2011, but I know enough about these projects to realise that the last 10% takes 90% of the time. I am happy with fresh or salt wate...

Re: Monaco Breasthook

There are several Monaco builders in oz. Myself in Queensland, one in Sydney, a new starter in Melbourne and I believe there is one in Adelaide. Send your contact details and who you wish to contact to Glen-L and they will send us a private message.

Re: Monaco Breasthook

It's warm and dry in Brissie. I have laid a fairing stick across the tops of deck beams 6,7,8 and to the forward tip of the breasthook. The rear surface of the breasthook is about 5/16" below the fairing stick. So unless we are both wrong all is fine. Like you I have had a few little frights but Gle...

New member from Oz
