Re: monaco planking thickness

Glen On my Monaco I used 4mm ply for all planking. 4 layers on the bottom , 2 on sides plus 4mm brightwork, 2 on transom plus 4mm brightwork and 2 on deck plus 4mm brightwork. I think the plans call up 1 layer of 3/8" on the deck. Using 4mm all over saved on wastage especially on the deck as you can...

Re: Windshield questions

Jim
With my Monaco my eye sight is level with the top of the screen. That works well to keep the front seat occupant out of the breeze.

Re: Barrelback 20'

If there is clearance for the half coupling and shaft, to get the most benefit from the reinforcement turn the rear plate upside down.

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Michael My tank is 12" high,16" deep and 40" long too. At 3 USgal/ hour in cruise I wish I had made the tank smaller, in particular the height. At 12" high it is a bit tight and is difficult to connect the vent hose, filler hose, both supply and return fuel hoses plus the restraint straps. 10" would...

Catbldr
See bronkalla.com "Riviera Project". If you use Melamine and Glen-l carbon paper you can clean the board with solvent and have a clean surface for the next frame.

Re: Tahoe 23

Earlier this year I went to a boat show and the only thing I came away with was a hearing aid show bag, how sad is that.

Tony
Congratulations on the flip, keep the boat as low as possible and build some good steps to get in and out as this could total a million times.

Re: Interior Hull Finish

Traditionally the inside of woodies were painted a dark crimson, a bit like a Holden 179 engine colour. I left my Monaco bright, 3-4 coats of epoxy and 2-3 coats of poly clear for UV protection. My reasoning was that I wanted to see what was happening to my wood down the track. I have seen wooden bo...

Re: Exhaust Tube Question

Jimbob
A fellow Monaco builder down under used mufflers on his PCM343 engine, these were from Eddie Marine. Might be worth a look.

Re: Key West engine-question

To quote from the "Velvet Drive Installation Manual", "One hundred revolutions per minute of the prop shaft for each mile per hour of boat speed is considered a very good rule of thumb for selecting drive ratio" There is some good info in the manual, do a search for Velvet drive installation manual ...

Re: Exhaust Tube Question

16 gauge (.050") would be ample. For interest 14 gauge (.063") X 3" would weigh approx. 2.5 lbs/ft and 4" approx. 3 lbs/ft. If you are using the log style headers and S/S tube you will most likely need mufflers. The "HiTek" manifolds that I mentioned in my previous post are an extractor type system ...

Re: Exhaust Tube Question

Jimbob I used 316L for the exhaust pipes on my Monaco. They run from the engine compartment and out through the transom. Flanges were welded on to the pipes which are then screwed through the transom. The boat is only operated in salt water as downunder we are not blessed with the beautiful lakes li...

G'day Tony
Great to hear you are back on all fours. With all of that latent enthusiasm your boat maybe ready next year and we can get back to planning a gathering.
Regards and all the best.
