Neel
Where are you getting 40-grit sandpaper for this Triton belt sander? Thinking of buying it, but the coarsest paper I can find online is 80 grit.

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

Hey Matt
Maybe you can allow the engine to encroach a bit into the backseat area in the middle, but still allow for deeper seating on the sides. See my simple picture below.

Re: Question: Battens on the Barrelback

Thanks again for everyone's comments. I purchased a Wagner wallpaper steamer and a thick PVC pipe, and last night I had good success bending/twisting the battens on the boat - impossible (for me, at least) without steaming. I took the advice and move very quickly after removing the piece from the st...

Question: Battens on the Barrelback

I am installing the battens on the side of the boat, and there is plenty of bending and twisting that is required. For the most part, I am able to sufficiently bend the battens without too many snapping. However, as I go lower to the ground (which will be the top of the boat when it is flipped), the...

Re: Barrelback-20 Louisville Kentucky

I have a question for Jim Neely. Thank you for your picture, it looks awesome. I notice that you still have the boat on a wooden stand. Is the engine in the boat? And if so, how do you plan to lift the boat onto a trailer?

Re: Texas Barrelback 20

I really like the idea of European style hinges. Don't want to overcrowd the deck, and it really would help make the doors disappear.

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

Sorry to hear this, Matt. But this may make it easier when you start to disassemble your donor boat to us it for parts.

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

Matt A question for you and/or the group. Are you attaching your outer mahogany planking using the Raptor staples? I understand that you will need to sand off the cross-portion of the staple, but the remaining ends tend to disappear (I saw a blog on the website where the person did several experimen...

Re: 4.3 in barrelback 20

I have a question for the group, that stems from OP's picture. How many of you waited to install the motor until after much of the top decking is completed? And if so, is it a reasonable job to do? I would like to do this after the top decking is (essentially) completed for several reasons, includin...

Re: Swim platform and ski hook on Barrelback

Thanks for the help. I see a retractable ski pylon on eBay that should work. I like how it looks on the Midnight Cry boat. For now, I am still making frames - just thinking ahead.

Swim platform and ski hook on Barrelback

Hey, new boat builder here! I am building a 19' Barrelback, and I was thinking of having a swim platform and a ski hook on the boat. I did some searching through the forum, and saw a very nice boat called "Midnight Cry" (love that song!) that had what I want, but I could not see too well what was do...
