Re: Maritime Malahini
I cut 1”x1” squares of half inch plywood, predrilled them, wrapped them in packing tape then added deck screws with steel washers. The tape keeps them from getting stuck. I used these first and removed them the next day when putting on the plywood. They provided great clamping pressure and I was abl...

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Thanks Carl. Not planning on using any stain. I like the look of the sapele with the epoxy. Pretty excited about where I am at. There is a chance I am ready to flip this year. Just have to figure out what I am going to do about paint. I plan on keeping the boat in the water when I finish it someday ...

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Finally finished attaching the hull planking. Starting Monday I have two weeks off from work and hope to have the hull fiberglassed during that time.

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
I am making good progress on the bottom planking. I have to say working with 16’ long panels is a bit challenging.

Hull paint question
I am building a Vera Cruise cabin cruiser that I am planning on keeping in the water most of the summer with occasional trips on the trailer to a few fresh water lakes near by. Home will be in the Hudson River in upstate New York. I had thought to use Blue Water Revolution paint but it seems to be u...

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Carl. I saw your trick with the wood washers and made up a 5 gallon pail of them before I started. Added a steel washer and wrapped them in packing tape so they wouldn’t stick. Has worked well so far.

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Working on the bottom planking now. It is challenging working with a 16’ sheet of plywood. A little nervous about the epoxy work. Even the extra slow hardener still feels like not enough time.

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Finally got a little warm weather and was able to glue my last side panel on. Also did a little experimenting with the West system scarffing attachment for my circular saw. Pretty happy with the results.

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Thanks Lee. Thought I was ready to go for the season but Mother Nature had different plans. Expecting snow where I am in New York and unseasonably cold weather for the next two weeks.

Another Vera Cruise build
Starting my third season building my boat. Seemed like a good time to start participating in the forum a bit more. I am currently planking the sides. Really starting to look like something now.
