Re: Olds cool down

No problem with the police here they are more likely to buy me a pint to help drown my sorrows than give me a fine. :D I was indeed wearing a lifejacket and always do also I try and have a back up boat with me whenever I go out and thank God I did. My insurance will pay for the search and recovery a...

Re: New member from Wales UK

I'm not sure how it works in the UK but in Ireland you have to have a CE certification https://www.nmma.org/certification/certification/cecertification.aspx to sell any new build and they are not easy to get and very expensive they look at it as if you were starting up a car factory selling to the p...

Re: Porpoising

I made up some trim tabs for my boat and they worked a treat and stopped the porpoising :D I never did like the idea of drilling holes in an outboard to fit fins I feel if they were that good then outboards would come with them :) http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx179/fergalbutler/crackerbox/2014...

Re: Mahogany Side Planking for Crackerbox?

I still can't believe it's mine and that I made it :D never in my wildest dreams did ever think I would own a boat like this let alone build one she is a testament to this forum and the Glen-L plans and proof that when you put your mind to it anything is possible.

Re: 13x13 prop hub thickness

I made up a jig copy of my hull so I could line up everything before I drilled the holes in the boat. :D http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx179/fergalbutler/engine/2011-06-28164644.jpg http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx179/fergalbutler/engine/2011-06-28164359.jpg http://i753.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: What to look for in a motor?

A good starting point would be to have good compression with around a 10% difference between each cylinder also check the gear oil for any sings of water.
