Re: CRACKER BOX

This is where my problem is the risers are just a bit proud of the deck so it makes the dome very high.

Re: CRACKER BOX

I have about 20 fun filled hours on her :D If I had to do it again I would build it the 10% bigger than the standerd I'm 6'4" with big long lanky legs so a few extra inches in the cockpit would be nice :D it would also have made the engine and gearbox setup a lot easier. I'm still playing around wit...

Re: CRACKER BOX

I don't have any other photos of it but I just used fiberglass cloth, this is just the way I did it and I wouldn't recommend changing from the plans to anyone when it comes to things like this as my way is not tried and tested.

Re: CRACKER BOX

Fergal, The boat look wonderful and I hope you are really enjoying it! I have a couple of questions about your build. At one point you removed some previously laid glass and epoxy. Maybe I missed it, but why did you end up having to do that? Also, the bill of materials lists 48 bolts for motor stri...

Re: Mahogany Side Planking for Crackerbox?

Hi Fegal, How did you get the finish? I'm gathering you stained, then epoxied, then ??? Cheers Mojo Hi Mojo the only stain I used is on the darker brown sides and king plank the rest is natural wood covered in 4oz fiberglass cloth and epoxied on the last coat of epoxy I used peel ply and that gave ...

Re: Mahogany Side Planking for Crackerbox?

These are the ones I used as they were all I could get :D they are not brown just off white but it's very hard to see them. On parts where there was a strong bend in the plank I found that the staples gave a better hold, when you pull them out and wet the wood the hole more or less disappears. http:...

Re: Bright Work?

I used the 205 when wetting out the cloth the first time but I got some cloudy patches because of moisture in the air "hard to avoid in Ireland" :D so second time around I used 207 it was a bit more expensive but I had no problems with it and was very happy with the finish also it does not blush.

Re: Mahogany Side Planking for Crackerbox?

I just planked mine from the waterline up with 1/4" mahogany over the plywood. That looks great! How do you attach the mahogany without any visible fasteners? Also, what adhesive did you use between layers? Do you have a build thread? Benjamin Yep like Roberta said I used thickened epoxy and plasti...
