Re: Hunky Dory Build

Due to Covid-19 The state of Pennsylvania has ordered a halt to all boat building in ones own garage. We're supposed to shack up in the basement until it all blows itself out.

At least that is how it seems when you read the order......

How is it in Oregon?

Re: Hunky Dory Build

I had also planned on doing this and for the same reasons. My transom is much smaller but the motor weight and accoutrements are likely similar. I plan to use it around harder bottoms and will like having the extra protection. Years ago I cracked a transom when I struck a rock a speed, scary.

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Tom wouldn't it be fun to find a comfy seat and copy it in wood with a cnc router. I'm tubby and like your middle version for a skiff......easy in-out.

Re: Hunky Dory Build

Did you double the transom to 1 1/2" for the whole transoms?

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

If you weren't doing something really nice and interesting you wouldn't have just turned to 208 pages!

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Your work is great. Beautiful. Like the helm/console area but wonder if there aren't too many conflicting angles. You may find that creating a bulkhead top and side will help match things up. The dash could even curve at the same curve as the windshield. I like what you have even if it all stays the...

Re: Hunky Dory Build

Nice Gantry Dude, sweet little build. Mind if I copy the nice lines of your transom? It'll give more attachment zone for gear, ladders and so forth. Nice looking build.

Those are the same tools that I use for fairing.

Re: Hunky Dory Build

Nice and glossy. Beautiful contrast. Glad to hear that the heavy cloth worked out as I may also go with some sort of thicker cloth. I won't be using carbon or graphite but your boat is looking up.

Re: Hunky Dory Build

Looking great. did the 22oz cloth bend over and/or the corners.

I understand the heat thing. Still way too cold here.

What tools will you use for the final fairing.

Re: Stretching a Little Hunk

Then I do have everything. I know I can muddle through sufficiently but still was surprised. At 6'2" I want the bottom planking to be at 4.5 - 5'.......but I won't burn the plans as they will be a wall memoir in years to come. I've scarfed all three ways: circular saw jig (only good up to 3/8"), a r...

Re: Stretching a Little Hunk

I have a quandary. I was expecting a set of directions telling me what to do in which order: Step 1, Step, 2 and so on. Am I missing something. I have "Build it the 'Glen-L' way", Build Little Hunk and The full size Patterns. But I don't see an order of events. Is this the way it is supposed to be? ...

Re: Stretching a Little Hunk

The floor is nearing 100 years old so even though its flat I don't mind drilling into it. PL or 5200 is another nice option. Because of my bad lower back I had planned on lengthening the legs raising up the building form another 8-10 inches. On my drift boat raising the form up 8-10" allowed me to w...

Re: Stretching a Little Hunk

I’ll keep this post close as I align it all, plumb line in hand.
I like the mod. It’s kind of like a breast hook on the bottom. I assume that it was fit in after the chines were mounted????
I have a concrete floor. I’ll anchor it all down with blue mason screws I guess.
