Re: Stretching a Little Hunk

IMG_4178.jpg I haven’t begun cutting it out yet but will begin in the next few weeks. Do I want to fasten it to the floor or should it be moveable. Last summer I built a small drift boat. Double transom. It was stitch and glue and was not easy to get trued up. I did use a small ratchet strap and so...

Re: Stretching a Little Hunk

I have noticed numerous boats on the internet where the stems are crooked. This concerned me and I’d like to know if it was the tension of mounting the side planks that made it go crooked. Most recently I noticed an otherwise nice looking boat, from another popular designer, the design similar to Li...

Stretching a Little Hunk

In the next couple of weeks I’ll be slowly ramping up to build the Little Hunk in a 21’ version. This is the page I’ll be posting to....similarly to what other builders have done with their projects. I’m hoping that others will join as the boat takes shape and their interest is stirred.

Re: Little Hunk - keeping it clean

I am a bit confused though as I thought that oils and including cetol do waterproof the interior and protects the outside from delaminating. I was thinking of oiling the interior based on how quickly repairable it is. How is it that those with natural interiors show no epoxy marks next to their fram...

Re: Little Hunk - keeping it clean

I guess I agree. But so many builders are using Cetol or tung oil and I had thought that was beneficial on a workboat.
So I should epoxy the whole interior and also protect the epoxy w/varnish?

Re: Little Hunk - keeping it clean

I'm hoping that someone with experience could reflect on this and help me understand how to avoid getting glue all over making it possible to varnish or oil the interior.

Best!

I like what nexus did but I’m not sure if the tractive surface is running in support of the passengers.

Re: Just Ordered Little Hunk

Is lumber actual or nominal. The floorboards are specked to be 1x3. I assume that means 3/4" x 3 but would 5/8' be enough? I Plan to cull my frame lumber from 2x12x16' DF. If I rip a 1x3 vertical grain board from a 2x3 (1-1/2 x 3) I would be left with a 3/4" and 5/8" board (1/8" kerf). I thought I m...

It Works. Mom used to tell me to chew nails and spit rust. I really wanted a boat.
