Re: Malahini Chine bending
Thanks for all your input. The boards had several very small knots through them and that was where they were breaking. I only had three Mahogany boards and they all had knots in them. So, I decided to go back to my supplier and got a 1x10x16' white oak with perfectly straight grain and ripped and pl...

Malahini Chine bending
Im having a problem bending my mahogany Chinese. Have broken 4 boards trying. One I even steam bent.
I did read something about kiln dried boards are difficult steam bend.
Is there something I'm missing?
The chinesI have in place seem to be holding, but I heard some slight cracking doing it.

Re: Waterproof wood glue
Thanks Mark. Very good article. Is Titebond III resorcinol or made with it? I build cedar chests and use titebond III as my go to glue. I like the way it's thicker properties (not that it's going to be exposed to water). I also build outdoor airplane windmills which are exposed. So I just buy one gl...

Re: Waterproof wood glue
Thank you for the info. I think I'll stick to the epoxy since i bought the kit. Don't really want anything to fail. I have a friend who built a small plywood dingy with waterproof wood glue and epoxy painted it and it lasted for several years, that's why I asked. But this is a little bit bigger of a...

Re: MI Malahini questions
Thanks for the info. Kind of what I thought. It's perfectly straight until I drew it down to frame four. Then it bowed up just a bit between frame 2 and 3. I was just afraid if I faired it, it would make the Batten thinner and weaker and maybe it would bow up more. Or if I tried to force it down wit...

MI Malahini questions
OK, there is a lot of stress about how straight and flat the bottom has to be. So now im a bit concerned.
When the batten next to the keel is drawn down on the 4th frame, it bows up slightly between the 3rd and 2nd frame. Is this a problem? How do I correct it? Did I do something wrong?

Thanks. I would love to come to one of these boat shows as well as I have friends and family there. It's also when we go to the keys. We will see.

Waterproof wood glue
Does anyone ever use Franklin Brand Waterproof Wood glue for building a boat, or is that a bad idea?

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build
Hey Neel; You go man. I've dreamed of building the Palm Beach for years and finally I purchased the same plans you got. I got the digital plans and they cost me $250 for them to be printed on paper. After several months of deliberating, I finally chose to hold on to them and bought the Malahini plan...
