Re: Utility build

Just minutes ago I picked up the crate of plywood that arrived from Homestead. Feels like Christmastime! I'm anxious to get it home this afternoon & open it up. man! i remember when Homestead Hardwoods dropped my crate of plywood off.......words can't describe it. It really is the closest thing a b...

Re: Boweye

I used a power drill and drilled from the inside out trying to hold it as close to straight as i could. I got lucky both times and the hole on the outside of the hull where dead cent...

Re: Where to buy boat insurance?

I used to work for Hagerty. They are an excellent company and they can write just about anything out there. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I still keep in touch with my contacts there. They only do "full-coverage" policies (no liablity-only) but even with that they are very reasonable...

Re: GERONIMO PICTURES?

the boats looking great! it reminds me of my build. The Geronimo and the Sea Knight have the exact same frames and hull (the Geronimo plans just call for it to be a little shorter) and i essentially finished my boat off like Geronimo (not putting a cabin on it). Its always been tough telling other G...

Re: Titan trip 2013

Parry Sound is my all time favorite place in the world. This is the first year i won't be able to make it up there with the boat in a long time. I have been going there my whole life! Looks like you had a blast!

Re: SEA KNIGHT

yeah..thats brutal. The primer and paint really makes all of the runs and imperfections "pop". I'm not a perfectionist, I defnitly did NOT spend nearly enought time sanding and smoothing my hull prior to painting. Most people don't notice (or they are just being polite). Remember, you will be your o...

Re: Ski King vs Zip

I always hear about the motor box of an inboard taking up space; I just dont understand. I can set ice chest, beer cooler, tackle box, etc. on top of the motor box and clear the decks. I can cut bait and sit and rig fishing reels. If your tired of standing you sit on the motor box. You can stand on...

Re: Builders Who Make Wooden Templates Of Boat Frame Compone

When i started my boat i had almost no woodworking experience and most of the tools i bought i had purchased to build the boat, so i didnt have much experience using the tools. Making the templates would give you a good feel for th...

Re: Builders Who Make Wooden Templates Of Boat Frame Compone

Yep, to each their own. Each of us use different tools and skill sets to achieve the same end. My fave tool of choice that I am most comfortable with more intricate projects is a router. Call me crazy but I find I can get better results, consistency, and repeatability using a template system. I hav...
