a skeg would definitly make a differency in regards to it "skating" around and being manipulated by the wind. I have a pretty heavy skeg on mine and it is extremely stable.

and make sure you do enough sanding....i don't think i did and i have paid the price. (most of the paint has come off the bottome of my boat and i'm pretty sure its because i didnt get nearly enough of a scuff on it)

Hi Albert, i don't know much about (nor would i personally be comfortable with) changing the lines in the hull of a boat design. i can't wait to put mine to the de-winterization test! I recently moved and my move has put my boating season on the back-burner. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks i will be able to fire mine up as well!
