Re: New member from Australia

Welcome RK. First off, where I Aus are you? Add it into your profile so people close by can get interested. We are having a gathering in Yamba in a few months if you are nearby, search AG2. As to where to start, read the plans and re-read them. There is much more information there than it looks. GD ...

Re: Rudder placement

This has been discussed many times in many forums. There are definitely theories that suggest offsetting something to help counteract the propeller torque. In a plane the engine is set at an angle to achieve this effect, but it is perhaps more obvious in a plane as you have calibrated trims to be ab...

Re: Depth Finders

I would maybe cut a hole the size of the transducer and fill the hole with fibreglass flush with the outside, and including some mounting system. The you can put the transducer on that patch. I don't imagine that will cause any issues. Maybe even make it a few inches bigger than the transducer all a...

Re: Rudder placement

Its not so much about engine torque, but the torque reaction from the propeller in the water. In a Vdrive just go on the prop shaft rotation.

Re: Rudder placement

LH rotation, port helm on mine and she behaves well. Upsets people over here as our "standard" is starboard helm but that's the way it is. Theory is that the drivers weight on that side offsets the rotating reaction from the prop. If there are always two people in the boat I guess its a moot point. ...

Thanks Steve. Got my fix...

Shame to be covering up that wonderful engine room. Fantastic work as usual. I'd love to be able to help you work out those hydraulics. Fun stuff!

Re: Flatting varnish

Hi Jeff, I have been flatting after 3 coats, mainly because my shed is large and you tend to get bits and pieces stuck in the surface which I like to get rid of before it gets too deep. I do 3 coats a day or so apart, then leave for a week to harden and sand back with 240 paper until flat. It is ama...

Re: New Member

Hi Steve. Looking great. Can't imagine how you felt when that engine noise started. Is the video up on Youtube yet?
Engine room is starting to look less "roomy" than it was...
Are you having hatches above it or is access from one end?

Re: Yanmar Diesel

A good stainless fabrication shop should be able to make you one. A header each end with a through hull fitting and tubes welded into the header is pretty normal. Size is difficult to specify, but probably more based on the size of your boat than anything. As long as you have a thermostat bigger won...

What are you talking about... 80 grit works perfectly. You just rub it on the concrete a bit first, then sand the boat with it...

Re: AG2 Gathering - Where this year?

Hey Ozzie that's a great idea. Do you want me to contact them and ask? Looks like a place that somebody local should check out for us... Tough job but somebody's gotta take one for the team.
