Re: Convert classic 'glass runabout to bilge drain

Cool project. I've seen similar boats on Craigslist in pretty rough shape and I've always been tempted to get one. Keep us updated. That'll be sweet when you're finished.

Re: Throttle/Shift Cable and Attachments for 1957 18hp Evinr

I think the early 70's should work too. There's an outboard repair shop near where I work that I plan on hitting up the beginning of next week to make sure. I found my control box off of Craigslist by chance. I had replied to a post about some old gas tanks and when I went to the guys house he had t...

Throttle/Shift Cable and Attachments for 1957 18hp Evinrude

I need new throttle/shifting cables for my outboard but am not sure which ones to use, or what attachments I need. I have a 1957 18 hp Evinrude with a 1970's control box (pictured at the bottom). Does anyone have any info on where I can buy new cables and the attachments to go with them? I have been...

Re: Squirt - People Choice Award - Best in Show Outboard

Congratulations! His blog has been a big help. Hopefully I'll get lucky enough to see his Squirt at another show in the next couple months. I think there is one in Leland towards the end of summer.

Re: Squirt in Minnesota

True, the planking should not touch the framing. If I remember from reading the "Boatbuilding With Plywood" book, it said there would be a weak spot of the frame members touched the planking. While saying this (please correct me if I'm wrong), I also believe that was meant for the sides of...

Re: Is it Worth it to Build and Sell These

A lot of the price you sell at will depend on your craftsmanship. A tug boat would be a fun idea but then you also have to look at the demand for it, how many people are actively seeking out a tugboat for work, and wouldn't they more than likely want something they can beat up? Personally, the only ...

Re: Cable and Pulley Steering Helm Help

Update: I went to the auto repair shop yesterday and had a friend try and get it off but after a couple attempts he was worried it would break. I figured it would be better to cut into it and be able to repair it later if I still needed it, than to risk having the thing come off in pieces. I used a...
