Re: Extending the Tahoe 23 to 24'2"
Donn, I am glad to see you're back at it! I hope all is well. I didn't put flotation in the transom because I was concerned about water retention. I cut limbers into the crossmembers so any water that miraculously found its way it could exit. Keep us posted! I lurk a lot these days, but most folks a...

Re: Upholstery lessons
Yeah I had the same issue. I was mad at first, and upholstery was the ONLY project I was farming out. After it fell through, I bought a sailrite machine. The first time I'd ever touched one was when I pulled that one out of the box. Long story short, I did a good enough job, in less time, with a fre...

Re: Barrelback-20 Louisville Kentucky
Haha you are out of the gate like a bat out of a burning stump! There isn't anything in the plans for such things. You have to figure out a few things on your own. I put 2 drain holes in my Tahoe23, one on each side of the keel. Although I have to Jack the bow way up to drain her, if needed.

Re: Build a Gantry?
If you plan to use a chain hoist on a gantry, factor that in. Granted my Tahoe23 was a little high on the cradle, but I built 2 out of 4x4's and I braced them. With the chain hoist and a 10' ceiling, it took every bit of that height. I'm not going to recommend a 4x4 cross beam. 4x6 probably. Or doub...

Re: The passing of Ken Hankinson
It's sad to see people like him and Mr Witt leave this world. They have left such a wonderful legacy which I hope will continue via their families and people like us who luckily crossed paths indirectly due to their family who have chosen to carry their legacy onward. Prayers for the family, and tha...

Be SURE to place a backer block on the inside, especially with a forstner bit. If you don't, the bit will begin deflecting as soon as it begins passing through.

Looking good, Neel! It's a great feeling watching your baby take shape. It sounds like you are being very thorough with setting the framework, which save you a ton of future work!

Looking great! Yeah, when you pull that boat up and snatch out the cradles, the pucker factor really does go up!

Lake Hartwell ACBS Show 2018 report
After serious consideration, I entered Miss Vonnie into Lake Hartwell's annual ACBS boat show. I was a little nervous about having a home built boat around so many classics, but I should not have been. The Blue Ridge Chapter was so friendly and welcomed me as one of their own. We met so many wonderf...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Beautiful boat, Skip, and best of luck selling it. I too love the challenge of the build, and now I find myself sitting around waiting on the perfect combination of good weather, off work, and wife home so we can use it. That is what frustrates me. On top of that, when the WX is great, SHE wants to ...

Re: Restoring Glory Days a 23' Belle Isle
Thanks for creating this thread. I also used dye, hoping the varnish layer would protect it. She stays inside except when on the lake. Having finished her last September, there have only been 2 trips to the lake so I imagine I will eventually have the same thing happen if I don't freshen up the top ...
