Re: Flying Saucer
I'm inclined to agree with Matt on being careful about overpowering. Here are a few tips on looking at an outboard: If it has been sitting, replace the water pump impeller (should do it annually anyway). Pull the lower unit oil drain plug and make sure there is no water present. Lower units are expe...

Re: Tahoe 23 project, Norway
The actual chine on the boat is inlet into notches on the frame, and the bottom is screwed to the chine. I think if you attempt to do it like the drawing, the frames on the bottom would have to be modified. That is a rabbit hole you don't want to go down. Just my opinion.

Re: Upholstery for the Beginner
Great work. I decided to separate from my upholstery guy after "2 weeks" turned into 2 months with him working on my stuff as an apparent afterthought, and a substandard job on anything that wasn't a flat panel. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to attempt it myself as well. The biggest hurdle will be ...

Re: Tahoe 23 project, Norway
I don't have my plans in front of me, but yes, there are several layers of deck clamps. Welcome to the forum! I'm currently finishing a Tahoe23. The plans will show them in cross section. If I recall, there are 4 layers up front and 3 layers aft of ~the windshield.

Re: Tahoe 23 Georgia build
I appreciate it. Right now, I'm wondering whether or not to cut this guy loose, and take home the vinyl along with what would be a loss. I do have contacts for 3 more guys locally who are reputed to do good work. Along with a lady in Beaufort, Ga up around lake Lanier. My mistake was not following a...

Re: Tahoe 23 Georgia build
A personal note just to track my build here. Upholstery farm out: What was told to me as "a couple of weeks" is now 8 weeks. About 35% of what was done has had to be redone due to lack of pride and craftmanship on the upholsterer's part in a way that is obvious to even the non perfectionist, because...

Re: Overwhelmed Newbie from Georgia
Welcome to the forum! I think there are a few Malahini builders on here, and several who are very willing to answer questions. Lots of knowledge, experience and wisdom. I'm from east of Athens and it's nice to see a fellow Georgian here. Good luck, and as I've said, these ladies and gentlemen here a...
