Re: Jet Zip?

... I'm not doing this because I want to build a boat. I'm doing it because I want to build a boat that I want. Spending time and money on something that I have no enthusiasm for building or using (and I wouldn't have any for that boat) is not on the cards... I think that you have said a great deal...

Re: Jet Zip?

Rules are there to be broken, right? And what nobody notices, nobody worries about  That is absolutely the same thing that I would do! I don't know about British Tort law but we have a thing here we call "the right to peacefully enjoy one's property." Neighborhoods and townships here almost a...

Re: Jet Zip?

I have read your entire thread and then I looked on Google maps for boating places in your area - just north of London, right? There don't seem to be ANY lakes like the ones we have here in the States in the entire country of England. This is actually a new surprise for me. I fully see your dilemma....

Re: glassing plywood prior to hull installation

I have just now given this thread a cursory overview only. So someone may have already added my thought. But the glassing of panels ahead of assembly does beg the question: "Can we also epoxy the frames ahead of assembly?" To THIS question the answer is not only YES, but I personally think it's a go...

For those of you who want to see a step by step of every possible mistake that can be made, you are in luck! I will be sharing photos of what not to do. :D Welcome to the forum, Allen. It is very nice of you to show us all your mistakes. Your humility will actually make you a better boat builder. T...

Re: HELLO from Canada

Welcome Sir Desmo. If you'd like to build a boat - of any design - you've come to the right place. And you have plenty of fellow Canucks who are currently building or have already built their own boats.

So tell us... What design has your interest the most?

Re: Harley Davidson museum.

I had one of those old pogo seats off of a panhead not too long ago but I gave it away. I had the seat, the hinge and the spring that goes down into the frame of an old rigid frame. But most new custom rigids like yours don't have that up and down tube that houses the spring - do they? I think that ...

Re: Hi... I am new here (from Turkey)

A six meter cat is going to require some commitment. Please share photos with us as your project progresses. This is something that I, for one, would really like to see. I want to live vicariously through you. :D BTW, welcome to the forum. We don't have very many members from Turkey and it would be ...

Re: Plasturko Pet bottle boat

WOW! This is AWESOME! I could do this and I have enough bottles too. LOL A year or so back, I made a poor man's air conditioner out of bottles. I used a hot glue gun to stick the bottles to one another but the glue was hot enough that it caused many of the bottles to deform. But silicon would be eas...

Now THAT is an absolutely NEW thought! It never occurred to me before and now, I will remember it forever. Thank you very much for those brief words of wisdom.

Re: Harley Davidson museum.

There is a good motor cycle museum just outside of Birmingham. My mother loved going there. She and her 5 brothers road Harleys in the '20s & '30s. the people at the museum were amazed at what she could tell them about all the bikes! Bill Yes, and I'm amazed at the Harley riders I meet with t...

No Doug, that is not correct. You're supposed to say, "Now I IS one."

To say, "...I is one" am correct. :D

Re: Waxing philosophical and boat building

When I started this project, I was hoping my then 17 year old son would express interest. ... Perhaps he will pick up the wood working bug later, as I did. Is my math correct? If he was 17 three years ago, he's still young. All of us older guys well know that he will have a lot of changes to go thr...
