Re: Holiday Greetings

...Mr. Hot Rod ... gently chided me for my recent absence from this forum... lol, I would like to gently chide BOTH of you for your recent absences from the Gatherings. We really miss you folks. But we also know that, with your move and Paul's being sick, it would be very selfish of us to expect y'...

Re: Open Letter To Lurkers - Positive Post

... i ... apologize for placing this in the power boats section. My thinking was that it might not be seen by many if placed in Miscellaneous... I always check "new posts" first thing. Then it doesn't matter which board the post is on - it still shows up and I see it. I lurked ... because it was st...

Re: Open Letter To Lurkers - Positive Post

I myself tend to post according to some unrecognized, internal circadian rhythm. By that, I mean that I will drop away for a while, sometimes several months, and then come back and become very active for a while. I'm just silly that way. I've been on other forums that are just nothing but breeding g...

Re: who likes tbones?

I spent twenty years in the landscape business towing trailers and loads every day. Many, many of my friendly competitors drove diesels and often asked me why I did not. From your explanation, I see that a gear vendors unit would be much the same. All of my trips back then were short hops from one c...

Re: who likes tbones?

Well, good for you. It looks as though things are working out ok. Now go to a nice steak house and order the Porterhouse. That's because you don't want anymore T-bones. Oh, I meant to ask you this when you first put this thread up but it got away from me. You said that the old truck had a gear...

Re: Fiberglass Sides?

It's not bad. Fortunately, most folks rarely have any problems with damage anyway save for the occasional bump up against the dock.

Remember that the real purpose for putting glass cloth down is to increase abrasion resistance and that's just what you need on your topsides.

Re: West Coast Builders Roll Call

I disagree in this case that combining our west coast gathering with this particular event would be detrimental to us as a group. On the contrary, I think it would enhance the experience. Yes, you may very well be right. I can think of one good way to find out. In fact, it would be great if ...

Re: West Coast Builders Roll Call

Here is an ad hoc list of things that will go a very long way towards making it work. We have learned this though some trial and error and we learned some other things because we stumbled into something that worked through pure blind luck. I’m going to list what I have in my mind but others may see ...

Re: West Coast Builders Roll Call

I really don't know exactly how it happened that our Gatherings took off and have been so successful. It really is difficult at times to get folks to commit because everyone has so much going in their lives. So, who can blame them? Every spring, we talk about getting a group of Glen-L folks to go to...

Re: Tahoe 23 Georgia build

I'm thinking about going with 2 colors: a rich tan for the seats and upper trim, complimented with an earthy navy color for the lower section.. Oooooooh, that DOES sound cool! I like that combination and was thinking about something very similar for my Zip. The topsides on my boat will be pa...

Re: Zip Material Length

Many builders make these from multiple layers so it's easier to bend. Try to put the joints toward the back where there is less bend. I fully agree with Bill Edmundson here. If you were to rip a group of thin strips, you could laminate the logs easily and would have virtually no tension wanting to ...
