Re: Gentry build continued

Doug, My planking was 5 1/2" wide as well. Because of the curve of the hull and plank width, some of my planks had to be quite short. Here are two shots of the process. The boards on the floor are 4mm plywood patterns. I think I used about 5000 wire staples to attach the mahogany planking to the ply...

Re: Clamps

I'm sure that many of the builders could come up with similar shots, but here's what some of your future glue-ups may look like. I found that a good mix is the most versatile.

Re: Gentry in Colborne ON

I agree with Neel on the gentry. At around 40, that nose goes down and the water gets really hard! Waves, even small ones, at that speed aren't the most pleasant in the Gentry. My top end, with my stock 283 185HP Chevy, is 44MPH at 4000 rpm. Just fine, when you have the folks aboard just cruisin' at...

Re: Gentry in Minnesota

OK Boyz and Gyrls- Aside from a few minor fix-up items on my Gentry, I think I'd like to entertain the idea of designing and constructing a cloth convertible top for my runabout. A really long afternoon in the July sun can be pretty brutal. At the Todd Warner boat auction in the twin cities three ye...

There's no question that the postings from Neel and Dean inspired some of us to go for this design.

Re: Gentry in Lancaster

his boat should be just about perfect then, if he wades through the construction and design foibles of the three Gentries that Neel, Glen (Australia) and I encountered as we built ours!

Re: gentry vs. Crackerbox

I'm on board with Neel. Mine is the stock length. Plenty of interior room. you'll like the extra 14" of beam width as well.

Re: Aussie Belle

the view of this boat, when in the water, on plane, turning sharply, will be a true eye-catcher and head-turner.

anticipating and following the topside construction will be a treat for all on this forum

Re: Gentry in Minnesota

frost was on the pumpkin last night. good thing I brought the boat into it's winter storage yesterday. low temps are predicted to be in the 20's for the next few nights. now to spend the next six months fine tuning a few things. thank goodness the list is much shorter than it was a year ago. I logge...

Re: My Gentry build

Congratulations on the launch Glen. Now the tweekings to get it "just right" will be fun. The major job is done. You've got to feel proud. Each of the three Gentries launched in the past year have personalities of their own!
