Re: Pulling a light boat trailer behind a travel trailer.

According to multiple sites, Triple towing is not permitted in NC.

Re: Pulling a light boat trailer behind a travel trailer.

This link shows pictures of my former set-up: https://www.glen-l.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=29519 My camper was 18 feet (20 with hitch). My Zip is 14 and change (18 with swing away tongue and hitch). I too have a Dodge. Overall length came in over 63 feet (65 is maximum in Kansas and many other...

Re: Spitfire

I wonder if that is the new Loehl kit.

I like British planes so much, I put a ring handle on the control stick of my Airbike. :D

Update

Hello my friends, It's been a while. As some of you may recall, my wife and I were planning to relocate to Idaho from Kansas. It's been two months since we made the trip. Wow! What a colossal undertaking! I had posted some stuff about changing the axel on the Zip trailer in order to double tow (need...

Re: Key West again

For that boat: I'd choose single gusset full lap joint or the double gusset butt joint as Roberta pictured for you. You could go for a routed half lap joint with double gussets for what might be optimal strength, but be sure to cut the bottom member a bit short to keep any end grain away from the si...

If I'd had the chance, I would simply have said, "Thank you..., for what was and continues to be, the most rewarding experience of my life thus far".

Re: Upholstery for the Beginner

I did my own after watching numerous videos on youtube.

Its not good, but it works, and I can say that my boat is 100% sole-authorship.
That was important to me.

If you use staples at all, be sure to buy stainless!

"shined up crap"

Mine kinda look like that too--but it matches the boat!

I still have no idea what vessel my brackets came from.

Re: New to me Glen L Zip - what size motor to use?

I don't think it is a Sears kit.
Those don't look to be hard-chine boats. That is to say, the chine area just wraps under with a steady curve--like a canoe. Interesting design.

Re: Latex Paint

Interesting thread. I am on record as having greast success with my Supermarine Ironsides. I was very meticulous with prep and temp/humidity considerations as well. Maybe I'm just lucky. That said, I beached on significant rocks last season and ground some paint of the bottom at the rear end. It nee...

Re: New to me Glen L Zip - what size motor to use?

I was unfamiliar with those kits, so I looked at all the relevant photos I could find online. They have a very similar shape, but the Baracuda kit at least, has even more frames which use a lap joint in all the pics I could see. I couldn't find anything with those horizontal sheet metal gussets at t...

Re: First major problem with Zip build

I used Hydrotek and used towels soaked in hot water to soften for the bend--still cracked.
For a half dozen reasons, I would never build with it again.

That said..., it is VERY strong stuff.
