Re: Gentry buile--a few more questions

You people are great...Thanks for the quick replies. I get the transom height and the delema as to whether to glue or not to glue the deck beams to the frames. I will ponder this for a while. As for the taper on the motor stringers, it is tapered between frames four and five aft of the stem on the l...

Gentry buile--a few more questions

Well, more questions have come up. I have finished the transom except for the shelf and uprights. Frames #1 and #2 have been glued up and I am ready to start on #3. All frame pieces have been cut and are ready for assembly. Question 1: When attaching the deck beams, they call for carriage bolts. Do ...

Gentry build....transom

I have cut all pieces for the frames out of African Mahagony. All frame plywood pieces were cut out of DF or Okume. I made plywood patterns of each piece first, then ran everything on my table router with a trim bit with top bearing. Everything came out better than expected. Now I am working on the ...

Re: Question about Nissan Outboards

KB, I have a 1989 Nissan outboard (90 hp) on a small speed boat I have. I bought it used a couple years ago, and it has been a great motor. The only problem I have had with it is that it doesn't idle very well because it only has three cylinders. It does idle, but a little rough. I guess when you tr...

Thanks to everyone for the information. I have now completed all the patterns for frames, breasthook, stem, and deck beam. I have ordered the plywood and am in the process of getting some mahogany. Should be underway shortly. Thanks again,,,,Neel

Gentry breasthook placement

Another point of confusion as I prepare to cut the frames and other members soon. It appears from the plans that the point on the forward end of the top lam of the breasthook should be flush with the forward center line of the stem. I have looked at photos and the plans and it seems like if I notch ...

Gentry project started....Epoxy glue questions

I have officially begun my gentry build. I have made plywood template patterns for all frame pieces as well as the stem and breasthook. I will be buying mahogany this coming week for motor stringers and all frames. I am a little confused about gluing everything up. It looks like Poxygrip is an excel...
