Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I am leaning toward getting it now. Bryan.. How are their prices and delivery fees? If you need more later on, let me know. I'm sure I will be making multiple trips next summer...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I have started gluing on the second layer of plywood planking. I think I will use the pneumatic stapler and staple through a rope to put this layer on. That way I should have very little sanding to do before the mahogany planking goes on. I only have enough Okoume to go about half way up the bottom....

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I think I had the air pressure at 90+, but I think you are onto something Roberta. I have noticed that is does jam more often when the head of the stapler is not flush on the surface being stapled. Also I have not oiled it as Jim suggests... I will give that a try. Thanks

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Thanks for the compliment Gayle.... It would be very helpful if the Riviera builder would provide the air pressures he uses for the stapler and brad nailer. When the staples go in without jamming, they are great. But when they jam, you are out of service for about 5 minutes. I am using the 1/2" stap...

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Tom... I have done a few small repairs to my Gentry. The way that works best for me is to tape on both sides or around the hole with masking tape. Then I mix up some epoxy and thicken it a little with mahogany sawdust and fil the hole. Then I take clear packing tape and tape it down tight over the r...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

These pictures are after about eight hours of sanding with my six inch RO sander with 40 grit paper. It would be good enough to move on to the next layer, but first I am going to fill a few seams and screw holes and use some fairing compound in a few places to get it as close to perfect as I can. I ...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Footer, Tom, and Matt.... Thanks for the comments. I really like being able to move this thing around and highly recommend this type of dolly/mobile building form. After I flip it over, I will be using the same dolly to set the boat on. My rigid hitch arrangement didn't work quite as planned with my...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Thanks Bryan.... I still have some plywood left to start the next layer and we leave for Florida in about 4 weeks. So I may wait till March to restock on plywood. But if I go, I will let you know. What will you need?

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I finished up the transom this weekend so the first layer of 6mm Okoume planking is on. Next comes the fairing process before the second layer goes on. Each layer should be as fair as possible. This process will pay off later when the mahogany planking finally goes on.

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

Matt... I would send a PM to Mr. Hot Rod (Paul Kane). He is the expert when it comes to transmissions and props. On my Gentry I have a 1:1 transmission with a 13X15 three blade prop..... That is with 310 HP. I would think a 13X13 prop would be good for your setup. But that would be my guess if you w...
