Re: Prop size and pitch advise

Troy... On my Gentry which is about the same size and weight as your boat, I had a 1:1 trans, 310 HP small block, one inch shaft, and finally got the WOT RPM to 5200 running a three blade prop 13/15. I originally had a three blade 13/13 on it and the WOT RPM was too high. One thing to keep in mind i...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Well so far the PB 22 is still with me and as things are now, I don't see a way to sell our house in the near future. So I have continued with the build. I just finished the cold molding layers on the transom, sides, and bottom. So there are two layers all the way around of 1/4" ( 6mm ) Okoume. The ...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

How about two fuel tanks.... One under the stb seat and one under the port. Make the helm console and seat slightly narrower, the port base slightly wider. Put a matching seat on each side. That may give you room to pass through to the cabin. I'm sticking to my original suggestion: Seating for two u...

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Jim..... I don't have a picture of my Gentry aft trailer tie downs, but what I did was take two pieces of 3/8" rope with a loop in one end. I attached each of the looped ends to my center aft lifting ring on the aft deck. Then I got two pieces of foam pipe insulation (looks like a swimming noodle) a...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Carl.... I also like the layout, but I would seriously reconsider the copilot seat. I think I would lower the height of the cabinet and then mount a seat on top with a much shorter vertical support than on the starboard side. That would also mean you would have to consider legroom on the forward end...

Re: Lee's Monaco utility build

Lee, I am one who had the same problem with my stapler. A friend of mine gave it to me after he had completed his build. He had the same problem with it and sent it to some company in New England where they rebuilt it. I had been using the brad nailer for everything until I got the stapler. It worke...

Re: G-14 Dates and Location

FINALLY.... I talked to Hannah at Hales Bar this morning and they have decided to give our group a 10% discount on the nightly rates for Floating and Land cabins. So our nightly rates for the floaters are as follows: 1 br floater Sun - Thursday 111.60, Fr and Sat 134.10, cleaning fee 29; 2 br floate...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Carl... I like the prototype design, but I was thinking maybe it would look good if you put a radius on the back two corners of the floor box (where the helm chair sits). Not sure if this would work, but could you somehow have the top of the instrument panel follow the crown in your cabin roof? I lo...

Thanks Gayle and Carl... I will be staying with the hobby, for sure. Something smaller than the PB22 is on the horizon.

Re: Hello and boat selection

John... I would choose the Barrelback 19 over the Gentry. I built a Gentry (Scooter) and stretched it from 17' 4" (plan length) to 18 '7". I added a rumble seat in front of the engine that would seat two adults comfortably or probably three kids. I had a bench seat aft that would seat two adults and...
