Re: Mercury Mark 30

Thanks all, I already have the manuals on order and should be at the house when I get back home. The problem with watching the auction is I am on my way to Disney World right now, but will try and bid on it. Randy, that would be great if you can keep an eye out for any parts I would need for adding ...

Re: Mercury Mark 30

Roberta, I really like the two older styles you linked too and will look at getting something like that. I was ust wondering what style would have been supplied with the 57 Mk30. Warren, I was think the same thing about the key switch and chock. I just want to make sure I can remote operate the choc...

Re: Mercury Mark 30

Hi all,

I am very interested in adding an electric start to this motor. The question I have is if I do can the chock be made to operate remotely?

Thanks for your help.

Warren, I like the look of your controls. Is this the style that came with the Mark 30s?

Re: Mercury Mark 30

Randy, The extra flywheel the guy included has 94 teeth and has 5 F-2099 marked on it. So I guess I will be needing one. The one on the motor was no teeth. The plug you see in the picture has only two wires that have been cut to about 1 1/2" long. He said this was for the kill switch. The cable you ...

I guess I am getting demented as I just joined them today. I will check out the extra flywheel closer.

Re: Mercury Mark 30

Thanks guys, I am stoked about getting this motor. I don't think you many are sale in my area. In fact the guy I got it from purchased it off e-bay out of Washington state. I got a feeling as we were doing the deal he still didn't really want to part with it. Randy, yes I am interested in adding an ...

Re: Mercury Mark 30

Good news, I am now the owner of a 57 Mark 30 in Sunset Orange. :D :D At least I hope so as I had to make the deal without a compression test because of time constraints on my end. Did get to run it on a boat and it seems to run good. It is a remote steering non-electric start model. Now I need to f...

Re: Mercury Mark 30

Looks like there's no deal on the Mark 30 as I can't even get the seller to set a day and time for me to look at it. I think he really doesn't want to sell it.

Re: Mercury Mark 30

Thanks all,

A lot of good information to consider. One question for now. What would be normal compression range for the mark 30?

Thanks

Mercury Mark 30

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get an idea of the value of older motors? In this case a 1957 Mark 30 without electric start. Thanks.
