Re: Monaco Caper

Looks awesome. I like the very dark wood on the deck.

Re: Highschool Riviera Build Project

Michael, your build is looking great. I wish I had time to work on my build [Monaco Restart] 9 - 5 everyday. Keep up the pace and you'll be done in no time.

Re: Monaco Restart

I had purchased a trailer about 8 months ago on a whim at a super price, hoping it would fit the Monaco. Today was the first test fit and surprisingly it fits pretty good. Will have to do a few modifications for the prop and rudder, of course. It was pretty nerve racking lifting her completely from ...

Skip, I'm glad it all worked out for you. I feel like I lost a boat too.

Re: Monaco Restart

Yes, it was a lot of work. I will be putting a windshield for that reason. Lots of bugs down here. I ordered the prop this morning from a local expert so launch is getting close.

Re: Monaco Restart

Bayou Bengal & NAMEngJS – I’ll let you know of the launch date. I’m thinking of doing a “soft” launch in case there’s a major fail only I’ll know about it. It that cheating? Hoodman – I’ve attached some pics of the gauge bump and engine scoop. [3 in this post, 1 in the next post] I cut a place in th...

Re: Monaco Restart

Thanks Bill. Understood. Bayou Bengal - Thanks for the local tip for props. I just sent Bo an e-mail with the specifics of my boat. After his review and we talk, I'll take a ride to see him and see what's up. Your recommendation of them for swapping props is certainly great news. I'll report back. S...

Re: Monaco Restart

I must get serious and purchase my prop. I had just about decided to get the same prop that Skip and Dave Lott used – OJ428 [13x15.5] but I think I heard someplace that the prop tip should not be closer than 2” to the hull. I’m not sure if that’s correct or not. Regardless, attached is a photo of th...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

Skip,

I just figured out how to drill down on the auction site. Clearly it did sell. That was one beautiful boat. Good luck on your next project.

Re: Monaco Restart

A few progress photos. Not sure why the first two look dark. The third is more like it.

Engine hatch on along with most of the deck hardware. Sending the seats out for upholstering soon. I have to get serious looking for the windshield parts and prop.

Re: Monaco Restart

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I’ll try to respond to all questions. Except for the dark pieces, all of the wood have just clear coats – no stain. On the dark pieces I used some Dark Walnut stain I had around the shop. I wanted them almost black. I picked out the coaming pieces special beca...
