Re: Monaco Restart
Pics of my cutwater pattern and wood around the cockpits. Not sure what the correct term is for those pieces.

Re: Monaco Restart
A few progress photos to follow in two posts. Three clear coats now on. I will probably do a total of 7 or 8 coats, then wet sand and buff out.

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Skip, I haven’t visited the forum in a while and just saw your decision to sell your boat. I am blown away but I certainly can understand where you are coming from. I used to build hot rods and loan them to my friends to break. I discovered a long time ago that I enjoy the challenge of the build muc...

Re: Monaco Restart
Finally got back on the build. My Mother fell ill before Christmas and passed away December 29th. She was 93 and truly our family's patriarch. I haven't been in much of a mood to work but decided to get back on it. Completed all of the finishing boards. Probably have a month of sanding and finishing...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise
Good to have you back. I just got back on mine after a month of being disgusted with my engine hatch. I'll soon have the finishing boards on and then look forward to a month of sanding - LOL.
Look forward to seeing your progress.

Re: Monaco Restart
I did some research and also visited another builder who did the 100% wood method. He had no issues so I decided to go that way. I think a lot of information that is out there (especially from Glen-L) is based on old products which did not do a good job of sealing and protecting surfaces. Like most ...

Re: Monaco Restart
Thanks Skip. The caulk intimidated me so I decided to use all wood - no caulk. I get the lumber in 7/8" thickness so I ripped the Mahogany to 2 3/4" width. Then I glued a random width piece of Maple to it. Then I ripped the whole piece to a finished 3" in width (the Maple is now 1/4" thick). Then I ...

Re: Monaco Restart
Finally finished the narrow finish boards. Here are a few pics. The lumber yard is cutting the wider, long ones which should be finished tomorrow. Once I get them, I'll begin installing them.

Re: Rocky Mountain Monte Carlo
JT, I am sorry that I just found your string for the Monte Carlo. I am building the Monaco (see " Monaco Restart" by Speedracer) which looks similar to your hull. Anyway, your build looks fantastic. The PCM engine I purchased didn't fit well. I had to go in and out six times I think, trimming each t...

Re: Monaco Restart
Anybody know if Glen-L closed? I ordered some Poxy-Shield about 3 weeks ago. Never got it so I sent an e-mail on the 15th. Never got a reply.
Thanks.
Thanks.
