Re: What the Heck, I'm Coming out of the Closet, too

Bayou Bengal - I'll be looking for you on the waterways this summer as well. Just received and installed my prop shaft so I plan to make the final engine fit tomorrow. I feel like that will be the last major hurdle. Skip's been helping me a lot to get this far. I will post some pics when the engine ...

Re: What the Heck, I'm Coming out of the Closet, too

Bayou Bengal, I have not been on the forum in a little while but noticed your completion. Your boat looks fantastic. It seems like you completed it very quickly. Regardless, it looks great. Congratulations. I certainly hope you have time to bring it to the Madisonville Boat Festival in October. It i...

Re: Monaco Restart

Thanks guys. I have the marine box so covering the terminals will not be an issue. There is room in the engine compartment to be able to lift the battery out when needed. I am leaning that way. Thanks again.

Re: Monaco Restart

I just realized I posted this on the wrong strong. Sorry Skip. Making good progress on fitting the engine in the boat. I have a question concerning battery placement. I am wanting to place the battery in the engine compartment, port side. My reason is mostly to counteract drivers weight on the starb...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

Making good progress on fitting the engine in the boat. I have a question concerning battery placement. I am wanting to place the battery in the engine compartment, port side. My reason is mostly to counteract drivers weight on the starboard side but also want to move some weight forward a little. T...

Re: Monaco Restart

I can't wait but am quite intimated at this stage. I have no clue on how to get started mating it to the boat. Hold on for a million questions soon.

Re: Monaco Restart

Christmas has come to south Louisiana! See photos of the 5.7 L PCM engine which arrived today. Skip paved the way on ordering the engine without the cat converter. I had absolutely no problems with the order. Trucking company was a different story. When it hit six weeks I began looking for the engin...

Keyless Start

Has anyone ever installed a keyless, push button start in their boat? I thought it would be a cool, custom touch for my Monica. I cannot find any specific to boats but there are several manufacturers for cars.

Re: Monaco Restart

Made some progress since the flip on January 18th. Mocked up all the deck battens, steering cylinder and gas tank mounts. Going to sand and seal the interior next while waiting on the engine to arrive. Decided on the same engine and transmission from PCM that Skip used in his Monaco. Not sure what t...

Re: Monaco Restart

After I noticed Nick’s post I went searching for him and found “Downeast Monaco Utility build”. What caught my eye was Skip’s post from September there. He stated that he got his inspiration from Alan and Alan got his inspiration from Rich. And now I am getting my inspiration from Skip! I find that ...

Re: Monaco Restart

Thanks to everyone for your support. I've been out in the shop for hours looking it over, getting my plan ready for the attack. For the first time my wife referred to it as "my mistress".

Lots of parts came in today including the hydraulic steering parts. I'm pumped.

Re: Monaco Restart

A milestone day. The flip went quick without mishap. Thanks to everyone’s advice and generous posts to get the project this far. Generally the forum members are novice boat builders so these builds would not be possible without the people on the forum helping each other. Enjoy the pics. It might tak...

Re: Monaco Restart

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I had no idea how many hours and the amount of sweat it would take to get to this point. JimmY - The finish is two coats of CPES, three coats of Silver Tip epoxy over the fiberglass (sanding in between each), three coats of Interlux Perfection Plus color and o...
