Re: Sailing version of the Whitehall

Due to the underwhelming response, and the fact that I would probably mess up a great rowing boat, I have decided to scrap the sailing modifications. Instead I am making rope fenders. Here is my first attempt. Might even make a pudding for the bow. Add a little 'yar' to it.

Re: New Guy in CT

Hello Mongo,
Greetings from another CT Glen-L builder. You will find a great knowledge base here and perhaps a chuckle or two or more.

The women do enjoy having a head on board. The one I installed doubles as a bailer!

Looking forward to following your progress.

Re: Sailing version of the Whitehall

OK,

To get the ideas fermenting, check out this video. I think the addition of bilge keels and leeboards would give reasonable upwind performance with the balanced lug yawl rig.

Spark any interest??

Sailing version of the Whitehall

Looking for my winter project, I've narrowed it to making outriggers and sails for my canoe or modifying my whitehall for sailing. I'm leaning towards the whitehall. I've looked on line and haven't found much info. Just a photo from Mystic Seaport and the "American Small Sailing Craft" referenced on...

Re: Whitehall modification

First, thank you all for your kind comments. I have uploaded photos of the router setup. This must be securely mounted and be level and in line with both an indeed and out feed table. That makes it 40' of table. I used a ladder on supports for half of the table. The other half was my workbench. Once...

Right you are Dave. Laura and I arrived Wednesday morning and stayed a full week. We will be doing the same for G6.

Re: Whitehall modification

Pete, We are still on the road after the G5 Gathering so I don't have access to all of my data, but I will get back to you when we get home in a week or two. Yes, the strip planning is bead & cove. I bought rough stock and fashioned semi-production tooling to produce the strips. The hull is not cove...

Re: Official Gathering 6 Dates and Location

Dave,
Looks like we just got in under the wire! At G6 we will be in Lucky cabin 13. Isn't that one that burned this year? Maybe we can do something with a 'smoky' flavor, eh?

Re: Whitehall modification

Pete,

I just finished a Whitehall this year and brought it to the G5 Gathering. You can see photos of the construction at my gallery http://gallery.me.com/sveninga/100367 . I wanted electric power since my wife refuses to row!! If you want any info on the build, I would be happy to share.

Re: Hales Bar UPDATE -Booking Info

Re: Not part of Group. Sorry about not posting, but we are part of the group I think. We are in floating cabin 15 now having been moved from one destroyed earlier this year. We plan to be there with our Whitehall 'Inga'.
