Re: Inspiration for my fellow builders
Thanks Randy, great info, many here on the east coast have a mercury phobia. And im always hearing the same thing, stay away from them, they cant handle the salt water, hard to work on, parts are hard to find, etc etc. they're just so damn good looking, but you dont see them around here. It's cool en...

Re: Inspiration for my fellow builders
Its a 1961 Merc 400 45HP and it is a work of art. $4995. A little too rich for my blood, but if I could spend 5k on amotor, this would be it.

Re: Inspiration for my fellow builders
I not only use it, I abuse it. During the 10 weeks I got to use it this season I pushed it to the limit and was never disappointed. What a great design. Thanks Glen. Testimonial video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lmg0q4NV7Xc Im looking for a 40 - 50hp motor if anyone knows of any. Something retro-...

Re: End Of Summer - No worries - Thanks for the memories
I call it a "Zip" because it is, essentially, a "Zip", as the frames are the same as a "flying saucer", and the "Zip" is the most common and recognizable build of all the Glen-L designs. I stretched mine the maximum recommended 10%, or 15". Five inches between frames and transome, for total lenght o...

Mid 80's in October, what a weekend. I guess we'll call it a summer. Thanks for the memories.

Re: Squirt keel bulge
I recently completed my 1st boat a Flying Saucer, so Im no expert, but I believe when I installed my keel, I started at the stem, and I didnt have this problem. It sounded like you started at the transome, and I could see how the wood might get distorted a bit.
Good Luck with your build
