my zip/FS is a very wet boat even in the mildest of chop. If your concerned at this point, I would consider building a different model.

i was curious about pauls build myself. Especially the lack of fiberglass, Im still amazed at times, that my hull is only 1/4 " plywood, with a layer of 7 oz fiberglass cloth.

I understand why some people put late model engines on the retro-boat they just built, but it just seems wrong to me. good luck,

HOW SWEET IT IS

It was a great weekend playing with the project boat. 16ft Blue fin aluminum hull, '57 Mercury 40hp running a 2 blade 12 pitch prop with a full load. 21 mph. it ran and performed great.

ahh, very interesting perspective. You guys are great. im gonna try a 3 blade 10 pitch prop. gonna play with the timing also.

Mercury MK 55 Top Speed

Im running a 12 pitch, 2 blade prop on this mark 55. Its on a 16ft blue fin aluminum hull. Has to be 400lbs between me and the wife. 2 full 6 gal gas tanks, battery, case of beer, ice, food, bar b que, chairs etc. I had a top speed of 22mph. Does that sound right to you guys. Still working on the mercs, just wantedto make sure the johnson was in good working order. It was in the high 50's today.
