Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

Thanks Gayle, but I will live the motor at midships. If I wanted a I/O I would just get a Old Donize.

The C-Flex idea is still their  but will will build with wood. I am getting in enough trouble with others using a outdrive.

And yes it is all GOOD!

Making wood patterns to cut out parts?

Would you go from the paper patterns to the wood or take the extra step to make patterns out of 1/4" wood then transfer to the wood part?

Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

Thanks for the input Lurvio.

I looked at the steering and other in transom stuff and the standoff would need outside steering. And that would not work for the look.

So a inset transom is the way I will go. I want to keep as much of the look as I can.

Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

Gayle if you want to pull this build its ok with me. I don't want to post if it sends the people into thinking they can change things and then go to you because it did not work! This is going to be a boat using some ideas from Glenn and redesigned by me to fit my needs. Thanks for all your help. Randy

Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

Hello Gayle. I will not be moving the motor. Their will be a drive shaft between the motor and the outdrive. Will need to play with the balance with not having a tran's but adding the out drive. The transom is what will be the biggest problem. I am working on tieing it to the motor stringers. This i...

Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

The other way would be to build a standoff area, about 5 1/2 " total ? Need to look at this some more? Other problem would be getting the power into the motor stringers?

Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

Now to workout the transom?
This is the std. outdrive and not the SS. The SS is 2 1/2 shorter,so the cav plate is about 1" above the bottom the boat bottom.
Will still build a test transom first !
Here is a little looksee.

Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

Yep! Think it was a 23 deg. bottom. As for the Gentry, will have some drawings soon. The drive shaft will be 12" off the bottom of the Gentry's bottom. This will put about even with the rear seat in the Gentry. Will need a small hump for the safty tube. Would not want to get hit by it! Randy

Re: Arizona Gentry build ?

As I weight for the plans (lbs) And think about the outdrive. I remembered what set me on this path. It was one of the first offshore race boats I ever saw. This maybe why I would like to try the Gentry with a outdrive? I think it is the stern view that is so striking. And I know, inboa...
