Re: modified malahini

That is a good idea. At least I'll order plans and see what can be done. Thanks

modified malahini

I have been studying the plans for the malahini and am getting ready to build. I intend to add a 17 degree deadrise. The advantage is: I believe this will soften the ride a bit. It also allows me to add 2 2X4 longitudinals (correct term?) which I can bolt the transom plywood It will give me some sto...

malahini transom

I seem to remember a suggestion to increase the transom angle from 12 to 15 degrees on the malahini, but can not find the tread that discussed it. Is this something being recommended to help get on plane and reduce the porpoising? :?:

Re: Mahogany for frames

Thanks Neel. That's very close to where we go to cut our christmas tree every year. Only about 40 min from home.

You have to love this forum. Always a wealth of information.

Re: Flying Saucer

That's good to know. I would have assumed it was center to center like studs in a wall.

Malahini ride question

I would really like to build a Malahini, but have concerns about the ride. I would be using the boat mostly on Lake Hopatcong and Greenwood Lake, but may also take it to Barnaget and Raritan Bays. Could also sneak around Sandy Hook into Atlantic Ocean. The flatter bottom makes me think this isn't po...

Steering components

I am looking at a used steering wheel on E-bay. It has the part to mount it to the dash, but no internal parts. Is this something that will work? What parts are needed behind dash to make it steer?

(Tried to post picture, but don't know how)

Are you in Amsterdam, or somewhere else? :?: My brother lives in Amsterdam. Love the city. It would be great to see a ski king traveling through the canals. :D
