Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

It is about 41 degrees this afternoon on Superbowl Sunday. After doing a few chores I have time before the game to go out to work on the boat. I decided to put on the 2 V-belts and test the motor. Here is a you tube video of the test. https://youtu.be/8guhP6ARa3Q Amp eater Motor with belts.jpg This ...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

irie, I am running an ME0909 at 24 volts with 4 interstate GC2-XHD 232 AH batteries. I have a 1.81 to 1 drive ratio to start out with. Max Prop rpm would be 1288. That would give a theoretical speed of 14.6 mph with no slippage. I expect my cruising speed will be a prop speed of about 750 rpm. I hav...

Re: Amped up boats CT/ Se Fl

Very impressive. 20+ knots with 48 volts is amazing. Where did you get your volt battery modules?
I look forward to seeing additional posts as development progresses.

Re: Another Geronimo Coming Soon

Matt,
Your build is looking great! Sanding is a lot of work and I'm sure you will be glad you had the patience to do it all. I wish now that I had spent 3 or 4 more evenings sanding to smooth out all the imperfections. Everything shows up after you paint. Keep up the good work and enjoy the journey!

Re: Prayer Request for vupilot

Chris, I am adding you to my prayer list. I will also be praying for your wife, your doctors and your speedy recovery. Nothing is impossible for God. He who created you can certainly make any repairs. Keep a positive outlook and trust in God. Our God knows your every need and I will pray for Him to ...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Thanks Chris and Matt, Mounting the motor is a milestone and gives me the feeling of being on the home stretch. Now just for some warm weather. Yesterday I Got out my Garmin GPS Chart-plotter Fishfinder Combo and began to plan just where I will mount the transducer. I also sat down to catch up on en...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Happy New Year! I have finally been able to work on the boat a little while the weather is moderate in the mid 40's. I have fabricated the motor pivot from angle iron much as detailed in the plans. I mounted the motor and I think all will be well. I just need to put in the belt tensioning bolt, inst...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

A few Christmas thoughts for my boat builder friends, First of all remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. And I am convinced that Jesus shared with us the love of boating and perhaps boat building. After all he was a carpenter and the gospels report that Jesus spent a fair amount of time ...

Re: Another Geronimo Coming Soon

Matt, The boat is looking good. The only way the skeg is coming off my boat is with a sawsall. And I always keep vice grips handy. Screws strip and nails bend and if anyone says this never happens to them then I would assume they have never built a boat.(but I call these learning experiences. My nex...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Cold weather and a busy schedule have made it hard to work on the boat. My son and I erected a 1-'x 20' x 8' Shelterlogic portable garage for the winter storage of the boat. If it is warm enough and time allows I can work on the boat in here and stay dry and protected from the wind. 20161205_203726....

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

It has been too cold to work outside in the evenings so we moved to the dining room table. My wife says I have to vacate before Thanksgiving. My son and I are working on the Motor controls and the console. It is always good when building an electric boat to have a son who is an electrical engineer. ...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Hey Gang, It has been a while since my last post but I never was any good at keeping a journal. Cold weather is here to quickly but thanks to a couple of days of Indian summer and some help sanding from my grandsons I got some painting done. 20161008_143414.jpg 20161025_204527.jpg 20161105_160810.jpg

Mike,
The art looks good. I like the clean lines. Very reproducible for print or silk screen. Good job.
It has my full approval as is.

Re: G-10 Great Fun

Melissa and I enjoyed our weekend at G-10.
The River Run in the Riviera was great.
