Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Today Was Launch Day! WooHoo!! 20170812_100825.jpg See my Launching Ramp post here http://www.glen-l.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=31656 After my initial solo test we all went for a 45 minute cruise up and down the reservoir. A good test for the amp eater with full load - probably close to 800...

Launching Aquatron - Glen-L Amp Eater

Today was Launch Day for the "Aquatron" Amp Eater. I received the plans 23 months ago and now am ready to give it a trial run. The deck is not done but everything else is completed. 20170812_100229.jpg See you tube video here https://youtu.be/HdXtQHOweJc The steering on the Amp Eater eater...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

rleete and ensWayne, Yes the horn is big about 15-16" and loud at 130 db. I am sure a 9" or smaller horn at 110 db will be sufficient even though it will be 1/4 as loud. Since I will be mounting the horn above deck I will have to see what looks good. Most of the Piezo horns look like below...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Yesterday I took the boat in for the inspection to obtain the HIN and Register the boat. The Division of Watercraft Officer did say that this was the first electric inboard he had inspected. Of course the main objective is to verify that I indeed built the boat, verify the length by measure and dete...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

I, will run it through some testing this coming Saturday to make sure everything is functioning well before installing the deck. Once the deck is on things in the aft end will be difficult to get to. Once the deck goes on the batteries will have to be removed to get to the back and there will not be...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

My Sister in law and her husband Barry from Lookout Mtn GA. were visiting this weekend. Many of you met them at the last Gathering. They have a side business called Mel's Marine Upholstery which is growing and may soon be their full time occupation. They made my cushions and fitted my boat cover on ...

Re: 50 Foot Electric Launch

Yes, I agree. Boats like this were not only functional but because of the workmanship afforded a large degree of elegance and grace. I had early on thought about building the 23' Harbormaster to be a smaller scale of this kind of luxurious boating. But I decided I needed to start with something a li...

Re: 50 Foot Electric Launch

Matt, You must have known Mark and Blythe Ann Cooper. They are friends of mine who worked there for many years. Probably about the time you were there I went for a week with a large group from our church to do some work projects. I helped paint a large barn where lumber was stored that was cut from ...

Re: 50 Foot Electric Launch

Matt, I had almost forgotten about this boat. I have seen the boat at the Green Lake Conference Center a few times the last time being about 7-8 years ago. It looks like a lot of work has been done since then. It is a wonderful example of what I would call an"Edwardian" style launch. A tru...

I love navy Blue. It matches my boat cushions. I will place my order as soon as it is up.
