Re: top of deck

You can paint on it, but it is recommended that you test for compatibility and reaction. I did all the finish work before putting the 3m 4000 uv on. I used 2 part poly u for my top coat. Then the 3m was applied. Roberta How does this method hold up over time? How often do you anticipate having to r...

Outboard recommendations?

So I'm quite a ways away from buying an outboard for my Overniter project but as usual I'm planning well in advance. I've started the process of outboard shopping and I'm already suffering from paralysis by analysis. I need some input from more experienced folks. The Overniter takes up to a 100hp. I...

Re: Another Geronimo Coming Soon

Looking good Matt. I'm really enjoying watching your build. The timing is perfect because I'm right behind you and our boats are fairly similar. I ordered my paint yesterday and hope to get it on this weekend. I've identified a source for a trailer and am saving up for it right now. Hopefully I'll b...

Re: Need advice on this trailer. Good deal?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. That settles it. Gonna pass on this. By the time I mod this trailer to suit my needs I'll have probably 1300 or more in it. Just got a quote today from a local dealer on a new aluminum I beam trailer with a swing away tongue for less than $1400. And it's looking lik...

Re: Need advice on this trailer. Good deal?

I'd pass on that rig. Bunks hang out too far and it's a mix of aluminum and galvanized steel up front. $500 maybe, but You can buy a super nice trailer for $1200. Good luck, Matt Yeah I was worried about the mixed metal too. Not crazy about that. The bunks are definetly too long but I would shorten...

Need advice on this trailer. Good deal?

So I'm getting close to the point I'll need a trailer for my overniter build so I've started shopping. I spotted this one from the road this weekend at a local trailer repair business. I inquired and it is for sale. The asking price is $1200. Not sure if it's negotiable. They said it had a 20 or 22 ...

Re: Silver tip really no blush?

They all blush. Some more than others, but if there's moisture in the air, then an ::N-H forms on the surface. It's chemistry, and it's real. Bottom line, you need to wash it off, which is simple to do. I surely wouldn't risk your paint not bonding by thinking that it's ok to skip the washing step....

Re: Right boat for the Potomac River

Here is an update to my previous post. I was looking at some photos of the Harry Nice Memorial Bridge. If I wanted to boat farther downstream from this bridge, I would most definitely be looking at an inboard cold-molded design. That really is some big water down there. I'm not saying that the smal...

Re: Overniter in SC

Brian, My overniter is still a long way from launch. In fact I completed final preparation for primer last night and intend to head home from the office this afternoon and apply the first coat. Overall I'm shooting to flip it by spring and progress towards a launch date late this year or early next....

Wow. Looking really good. Love the color combo. I'm going for something similar on my overniter. Great job on the flip too.

Re: Overniter in SC

Well happy new year guys. Figured I make an update on the progress (or lack there of as you will see) on the Overniter. As you'll remember, I was working on priming the hull at the last update. It seemed everything was going well until I tried to sand it. I noticed something was wrong when my sandpa...

Re: Another Geronimo Coming Soon

Looking good Matt. Im jealous of your progress. The holidays and visitors have really put the breaks on my progress this month. And worst of all I botched the primer job and had to spend a couple weeks scraping it off so I can redo it. I'll have to live vicariously through your build until I can get...

Re: Another Geronimo Coming Soon

Same here, I bought a rebuild 90 hp Yamaha 2 stroke. It's still in the shipping crate. Never had good luck with used outboards and new ones are crazy expensive so I'll try a rebuilt this time. It was $4500 with control box and cables. Figuring about 40 MPH top end and plenty of oom-ph for pulling t...
