Alright Pirate you asked for it you got it. Here is a short video showing us applying the 3" fiberglass tape. The fillets are cured and sanded. As I told you I don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong. But it seems to work for me. :D Now if I could just get the fairing part of the tape figured out I would have it made.

Well the inside of the little boat is all taped up.

Next up will be installing the deck. That's going to be fun. I need to decide if I'm going to have any deck hardware first so I can install blocking on the underside of the deck where needed. For know I'm going to try and pretty up the exterior seams. I could have done better on alignment, but there again that is the beauty of stitch and glue. You don't have to be perfect, only close. :D

Thanks Mudbug,
These are neat little builds. Great way for anybody to get their feet wet with stitch and glue. :D

Here is one more for anybody that might be interested. In this one I am taking the make up off of the outside seams. :D

Pirate,
I have some bad news. While test fitting the supplies you wanted me to smuggle to you I realized that the alcohol will not fit. :(

Well, It looks like my bad luck from yesterday is still with me today. While cutting the deck to final shape everything was going fine until the last couple of inches and then it happened. I took my eyes off of my cut line and looked where I was going. :( Since this is a stitch and glue build I'm not going to recut the deck panels. I will make these work and it looks like this little hull is going to get painted. :D

why not put an accent strip along the edge to "enhance" your deck section. would tape the deck down so it doesnt move and with a pair of dividers or compass setup for a line just inside your deck line and scribe. sand to the line and glue on a nice piece of contrasting wood like mahogany. ... or just cut the tip back to the problem area in nice "custom" shape and add another piece the right size. :D

Just get creative with some paint trim on the gunnels with the bulk of the panels bright....I tried to pull up a pic of the test model from the fiberglass video of a Glen-L kayak, but can't find it on the site....it was done this way

Billy,
I love the idea of the mahogany strip. :D I was already going to sand the deck back so as to have equal spacing and fill in with tinted epoxy. If I take out too much of the decking I will have to add to the side cleats, which is no problem. It is my own fault. After yesterday's battle installing new wall ovens and an ongoing head cold I should have stayed on the couch. Thanks for the tip. BTW, I won the oven battle. :D

Warren,
I have thought of that also. Maybe even painting all of the hull and overlapping the deck with the paint about 2" and leaving the rest of the deck bright. I'll get it figured out.

Thanks Guys :D
