As suggested, I went out and bought a good heat gun. It works, I have half of the glass removed already. I was very surprised how easy the glass came off (easy - not really). When the glass came off, it left glass pattern resin patches all over the hull. They are very hard to remove, even with a heat gun and scrapper. Since the patches are in fact remaining resin, can I just sand out the pattern and feather the edges of the patches and reglass the boat or should I remove all the patches, down to wood and start with a new sealer coat before I reglass. I would like to know your take on this.....

Sand, sand, sand...that's my opinion!

Hey William,

I recently stripped half my boat too. Lots O fun  .

I had (still have) some of the patches like you mention. Most of it comes off with the heat gun and putty knife, but there are several areas that need sanding too.

If you are finishing bright I would think that you would have to remove it all or you might have color variations (but I do not know for sure).

I will be painting, but I am still sanding it all down so I know that I don't have to worry about the base.

I do not want any more issues :!:
