fiberglassing 90 degree edge

Postby tclark » Thu Feb 12, 2015 7:28 am

I am building a Stand up paddle board. The top and bottom edges are close to hard 90 degree angles. When fiberglassing, should I use two inch tape on the 90 degree edges that run lengthwise on the board, then fiberglass to the edge on the top and bottom?

Is there a recommended method for this long hard edge?

thanks,

Tom

Wrapping the edge or using the tape is the normal process. You will need to round the hard edge to about the roundness of a pencil or the glass won't lay down. If you want a hard edge you then build it back up with thickened epoxy. On a SUP I'd just leave it rounded.
