"ONLY" 120 acres !!!   You gotta love it!
I don't have the answer, sure wish I did. Me drawing a tag is proof positve. There should be a three year (or five) year waiting period before a new resident can even apply for a coveted tag. They should be allowed into the "non-resident" tag pool until then and not be allowed to gain preference points. I ran into a game warden in the store today, he ALSO drew a Moose tag. He got his SECOND choice and has been applying for 13years! Hmmmmm...I was waiting for that warm lead feeling as I left the store! He put my area as his first choice, and he knows it like the back of his hand since it is his work area!

OH well.....I will play the cards I have been dealt, and might have pics for you if I get "lucky" !

Steve

Now, I don't care who you are that there is funny!!!

Actually it is not THAT funny...it would be less expensive for us to hunt that way...in the end I really don't want to think what this Moose will actually cost me. When I break it down to the pound of edible meat, after the license, time off, arrow, bow, gun, bullets, clothing, scent remover, gas, vehicle wear, body wear, work to bring it off the mountain, then the taxidermy bill!!! That will be one expensive piece of meat. If I had all of the money Dave has spent on his hunts I could have retired when I was 14!!!!!

All in what you like to do, Steve!! I bet you have way more fun hunting than you would shopping. It's the journey as much as the destination, maybe more so.

Have fun and bring some of that moose meat to G6 or G7. I'd love to taste that. I do love elk.

Sounds like a plan Steve -

The moose is on my bucket list.. I am quickly working toward my North American 12. I lack 4 (moose, goat, sheep and bison). I am heading out for the Bison in January. I am on the draw list for Desert Bighorn in AZ. This is the least expensive method to get one and it should take 3-5 years to actually be drawn which will give me time to save the pennies. I have a plan to go to Scoop Lake in NW Territories for Moose and Goat when the house is paid off. That is my "thank you" to me.

So go out and have fun. Even the Shiras is large by any standard. And good luck

Where are you going Bison hunting at?

I have not drawn the Bison tag (yet  )

When I do it would probably have to be just outside yellowstone or the Tetons. They will pretty much tell you where you can hunt one, then you have to wait for him to walk close to the road so you can call a wrecker and have him haul it home for you!

Roberta: You are sooooo right. I actually have not taken any big game in Wyoming, but when I am hiking or snowmobiling or four wheeling or just walking through the woods with a bow I am at such peace that you cannot put a price on it! :D

You guys nailed it, it's about what you enjoy. That's why I quit hunting shortly after moving out here; the regulations took all the fun out of it. Back in GA I lived in the middle of National Forest land so I would grab a bow or my 44 Anaconda and go for a walk, come home with something to eat. The deer didn't have to be real big when you got a dozen of them a year ;)

Nowadays I derive great pleasure from long range rifle and high speed handgun competitions :D

My wife and I shoot archery just for something fun to do together, no competitions and we shoot most of the winter since I have a 25yrd indoor range 8)

I found out on Sunday that I had drawn a Moose tag. My pastor spoke about prayers (answered or not).

Once I found out I called Father Dave as we both hunt together and he is my pastor and boss (and we both carry both on the college campus and at mass!) as well as the college that I work for...so I say to Fr. Dave..hey, cool homily today on prayers being answered: guess what?..one of my prayers has been answered. He says: oh yeah, which one. I told him I drew a Moose tag. He started to beam and then without skipping a beat he says: Steve, you don't understand, God did not answer YOUR prayer, he answered the Moose's prayer!!!

Can you picture the Moose standing there going...Hey guys, I got another year, Steve got a tag!!

I think I said something like: You Bassted! But it was all in fun!!
