Sounds like a plan. What marina should we stop at?

River Street in Savannah would be the so-called Boardwalk, but I never tried to dock there. Restaurants, bars, cobblestone street, all of that.
There is tie-up there, but I never used it, it is the city.
If you come from outside, it is a ways up river; If you come from intracoastal, it is Wilmington river, close by.
I'll start looking at the city docks access

edit, I found this

edit, all of these are on the intracoastal, but not on River Street the so-called boardwalk.

What has the other 'Loopers' say about a Savannah marina?
Looper needs are different than mine, I got my boat on a trailer in my back yard, different than a Looper.

I just called the city dock, 912 651 3634, it is called Rousakis public recreation dock, on River Street. it behind the paddle wheeler
No charge for 2 nite stay.
This is where you would want to be, right on the cobblestone boardwalk

You might eat at Treylor Park on Bay St. I think that is near the Lincoln Ramp. A unique menu. Kevin Brown and Krysten like the fried avocado appetizer.

After a year wait at home, we are back on the Great Loop. Waiting at home because of covid-19, was just like when I was a 15 year old teenager waiting to turn 16 so I could get my drivers license and be free.

So on March 28th, I hooked onto Curt's Dream and headed to Jacksonville Florida to continue our adventures on the Great Loop. Before launching at the same boat ramp, where a year ago we pulled the boat out, I stopped a gas station to fill the gas tank. 150 gallons of fuel took a while to pump.

After launching, we proceeded to the Marina at Ortega Landing. The next day, I headed back home with the van and trailer while Noreen stayed on the boat to get everything put away for our travels for the next 5-6 months. Once back home, I then flew back to Jacksonville.

On April 4th, we left Jacksonville and headed back down the St Johns river to connect with the Inter coastal waterway(ICW).This was on Easter Sunday, which was also the day that I first launched the boat after completing the build. Once on the ICW, we can head North along the Eastern coast. We stopped the first night at a free dock at the Jim King park on the outskirts of Jacksonville. As we head up the East coast, tide changes will be something that I must pay attention to as the swings between low and high tide can be as much as 9 feet.

Before I go any further with posting, does anyone know why my pictures are posting sideways and how do I fix this problem?

Curt

Update: I figured out how to get the pictures to post the right way

Curt, glad to see you back on the loop! Quick question. Do you know the height of your True Grit on the trailer?

The True Grit on the trailer is 11' 10" so for safety sake I say it's 12 ft.

After leaving Jacksonville in our wake, we crossed into Georgia and stopped at Cumberland Island. The island is known for wild horses wondering around the island.

There are walking trails on the island so we checked out one of the trails.

We found some of the island horses but they had been around people so much that they didn't seem wild.

Cumberland island is also known for the Dungeness ruins, which are the remains of a mansion built by Thomas Carnegie, brother and partner of steel tycoon Andrew Carnegie.

The park service provided a dock for dinghies or smaller boats. We were small enough to fit on the dock. Boats were not allowed to stay overnight at the dock so we moved off the dock about 100 yards and anchored.

We left the next morning and headed to Brunswick, GA. On the way to Brunswick, we met a small cruise ship on the ICW. This cruise ship was headed to Jacksonville.

As we got closer to Brunswick, a strange sight appeared on the water. This sight was the car carrier "Golden Ray" that had over turned onto it's side in September 2019. A salvage company is in the process of cutting the ship up now.

After docking at a popular marina for Great Loopers, we had pizza at a downtown eatery and walked around the town of Brunswick GA.
