Well folks...the Shaws had a great weekend on Lake Eufaula. Four generations of Shaws got together at our cabin on the lake and we had a blast! We took several rides out before the wind took over. Here are some video links:

Father-Daughter Ride - http://youtu.be/JL1Ssa0cjVw
Dad at the Helm - http://youtu.be/PAHZAmAnHn8
Video/Slideshow - http://youtu.be/b2xBKRozzZ8

I got to hear all about my grandfather's honor flight (from last week) and heard more stories about his time during WWII than I've ever heard before. He was trained as an underwater demolitions expert (Frogmen) and since the Navy had a growing force of light aircraft carriers (and the fact that he could read/write/type) he was also trained in communications. A reporter from the Daily Oklahoman asked him about a specific memory from his time in the service:

“Well there are several, but I think probably the most notable is that my communication officer told me that I'd messed up again when I reported that I'd just received the message that a bomb with the force of 200 B-29s had just been dropped on Hiroshima. He said ‘Well you've messed up again. It couldn't possibly be that big.”

Anyway, here's a slideshow of images taken during the Honor Flight - http://downloads.newsok.com/flash_video/theoklahoman/slideshows/Honorflightslides/

Oh, and around the 2 minute mark of the 3rd video/slideshow I captured some pictures of Conway Twitty's place on the lake.

I am so proud for you that you were able to experience this weekend. Memories of a lifetime

Now, next time I see you let me tell you a story about Conway Twitty and his floor length pink ruffled robe and pink furry slippers!!!!! That meeting cost him dearly!!!!

I showed 33.6 on my GPS but still have some dialing in to do....plenty fast enough though.

Bill, this is a good time to compare notes. What engine and prop do you have? I'm pretty sure you have an Evinrude, but I don't know which one or how much it weighs. With my 90 ETEC which weighs 320lbs, I hit 40 MPH with four adults coming in around 650lbs. I had to slow down for some wakes or we could have gone a little faster. My prop is a 13.5x15. I could probably go up to a 17 but if I can hit 40 with a full boat, what's the point.

Thanks all!!! We had a blast. FYI, I tried a new phone app (GPSed Lite) while out on the lake and I'm reasonably inpressed for it being free and all. The on-phone features really work more for geocaching but when you upload individual tracks to the website you have a lot more options (like viewing over google earth). Altitude is not real accurate but hey, maybe I'll impress someone by saying I jumped my boat 9' in the air. Here's a screenshot and some of the track info:
