Hello all,

I am putting by boat build on hold. I want to build my wife/best friend a hot rod for her 50th birthday. This site has been so helpful, and I know somw folks build airplanes here too. Is there as good a site for hot rods? I chickened out on the surprize part. I couldnt pull off the logistics without her seeing it. I also wanted it to be "her" car. I did pick the same one that she would have chosen. I know her fairly well by now :D

Anyway, looking for the same caliber of help as there is here.

Thanks, Chris

I too am into rods, but haven't actively found a forum like this.

Over the last few years, I've found a few blogs and sites with builds, but this is the only one I can think of:

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/

Lots of info I'm sure ...esp for "Rat Rods" ( I hate that term and what they've evolved into)

Let me know what you find

Thanks!

Its pretty disapointing after being here and seeing "details". I dont want a period restoration, but not a hobbled up rat rod either. I want to take the body off and put it on a modern frame. The guy has a rolling frame of a Ford Ranger thats just the right size. Modern brakes, suspension, steering etc is what I want to go to and be a daily driver that looks cool!

This Ranger is actually 4 wheel drive which I really like. She has to go over the pass every other week and takes my truck. The Ranger wont sit any higher and has small hubs. An S10 doesnt have hubs if I remember right. ???? Will see what develops.

Will keep looking...................

That'll be a neat one.

I've always felt it was best & cleanest to use the factory frame and just change the suspension front and rear.

That way all the sheet metal lines up properly

I sent you a PM
