Well, the Admiral won't let me build the big toy so I had to figure out a way not to become a couch potato.

So I volunteered to conduct a class on cold molding for the Heartland Chapter of ACBS next week on Grand Lake, OK.

Well, how do you really simulate cold molding on a boat frame? WEEEELLLLL, the best way to is to have a boat frame. Walla. Out comes the Riviera plans (in tatters from their previous experience).

Three hours later, I have the frame cockpit forward built. Turn on the vibes and back in my world again. Ahh, great feeling. Adding the battens tonight. My plans are to layer up one side with exposed layers and actually demonstrate on the opposite side.

I can honestly say it is a LOT faster the second time around.

But if I had really been thinking, I would have pulled the plans for the next build and started.

Getting back from the workshop and will start the SUP and then get to go help the Boys Ranch build their boats. See there is a way to fix an addiction.

You can always use the partial hull for a nice bar also

You could just build the transom end and turn it into a porch swing.

Ok, Mr. Tapping Toe. This is called a bench bow. I got delayed to add the battens until tonight. Just on too many boards right now.

I will fair this out in the morning and lay down the first lamination on one side.

Looking good Dave! Reminds me of one of those facades they build for real estate developments  . You know... the beautifull looking house (front) stuck on a mobile home office. Maybe you could sell it to Gayle when its done :?:

Just put a plywood transom on that and make a mini Riviera. Looks nice. Should be a great teaching aid.

Thanks, thats nice looking. I see a wetbar in the future too, maybe for the gathering. Glass it after you enclose the transom in and of course make sure you install drain plugs. :)

I was telling the Admiral last night that pine is a lot easier to work with than white oak. I would not even consider using pine for framing in a real boat  At least one I want to last more than a season or so.

But once this is finished being used for the class on cold molding, I reckon I will have to veneer it and make something out of it. The Admiral has already spoke about a serving bar on the back patio. Maybe I can practice now on sanding. You know, I really need to practice on that

I had a Canvass top on my Work boat. Hundreds of times I wished I had a Cold Molded top for that boat.
Two layers of 1/8" Veneer molded, and laying on the Frames made to fit.

No more leaks!

So get those "Stuundts" started on a good Cabin top and front deck top.
