I saw this photo and thought that folks here might enjoy seeing it as well. Can you say OOOOOPS? I kinda think that maybe this guy was parking with "beer in hand." :P

Was he parking? It looks like he just drove off the road, lucky for him he had the boat trailer to stop him!

I might be polish but if you ask me...

it looks as if the boat is pulling the trailer up from the cliff. A typical boat rescue operation. Leave it to boat people to come to the rescue!

are you sure that aint a doctored up photo? I doubt a ball hitch could hold in such a position.

Nope, true picture, saw it on the News myself. Made the same comment about the anchors, too.

If this driver had built the boat he was pulling, don’t you think he’d have been more mindful of what he was doing?

The only boat I’ve pulled was a light aluminum fishing boat. But I did drive tractor trailer trucks for more than 20 years. I did a lot of mountain driving and pulled extra legal loads for the crane companies.

Upon further reflection on this sad predicament, I think of how hot spongy and/or failing brakes, in hilly terrain with turns, could easily produce this result.

Is anybody familiar with pick-ups able to identify what type of truck that is? Just wondering if you think it may have been overloaded in terms of towing capacity with the size boat he has. I bring this up because I just got back from vacation in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan and was very surprised at the number of folks with light or mid-weight pick-ups and SUVs drastically overloaded.

Looks like a full size chevy to me. That would make it at least a half ton model but it could be heavier. It looks to be a stripped down 2wd model so I doubt it's heavier than that though.

I agree with the truck being a Chevy 1/2 ton, GVW rating 6200lb. The boat is a 22' Bayliner. I looked it up for the stats.............boat and trialer, 5500(plus)lb.

Which would you rather have saved? The boat or the truck? Kind of a dumb question in a boaters forum! :)

THOSE IN THE TRUCK, you can always buy a truck and a boat.
