Has anyone been to Lake Norman in North Carolina? Its just above Charlotte. I've been looking at the area online and looks pretty darn nice but have not gotten there yet. Meant to go this last week but too many things in the way. Its about a 5 hour drive from Savannah so not too bad with 3 kids in a minivan! I hope to have my boat (Malahini) done by next summer and take it up there with a cabin rental and dock for a week. If we like the area, may try to move there in a few years also. I've always wanted to be right on the water with my own dock.

Hey Warren,
Lake Norman is actually pretty nice. It's less chaotic than lake Wiley to the south although on weekends and holidays it can get busy. Nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion. There are a bunch of Marinas, resturants and boat service establishments in the area as well. Lake Norman feeds into a smaller body of water, between itself and Lake Wiley, called Mountain Island Lake. It's considerably smaller but very nice. You can travel north from Mountain Island lake up the Catawba river just about to the dam at hwy 73, which is the south end of lake Norman. It's a nice adventure. Since your trailering it's something else you might want to check out while your there.
My Parents, sister and Brotheri-in-law live in Alexis NC, just west of Lake Norman, The scuttlebut is, about like everywhere else, property values are going through the roof.

Good Luck,

Jimmy
