I am think about building the Flats Flyer.. as my first boat...anyone know about the cost of the wood for this project ? I checked out the wood for this boat and I noticed that no one builds or use cypress,,, is there a reason ? The last question (yea right !!! ) is does anyone know where to find a new throttle control for this boat,,, I have looked all over the web and can not find one .. trying to get a budget together for the boss..( you know "THE WIFE" )
Thank you for any help

8) if you have access to cypress use it It is a very good boat building wood and having a ready supplies is why it is not used more often  check with west marine for throttle control
Don't be afraid to attempt anything. You might surprise your self in the attempt.

I will be home early tomorrow morning and I will take some pictures for you. The frames are assembled with vertical grain douglas fir, marine ply, resorcinol(sp?) glue and ring shank nails. The transom is completed and the stem is cut. Its ready to be set up on a building form and become a boat! I went and picked them up from a forum member on here but I can't remember his name. It was going to be his second boat project but he decided to sell them. Unfortunately after 2 1/2 years of building a Dyno-jet I have realized that I just don't have time to build boats :( which is why I am willing to sell it. I paid 300 for it and I'll take 300 for it plus any shipping or we could possibly meet halfway somewhere and you pick it up.

JasonG I think ... I am just going to build the frames myself... a friend of mine has a large lot of cypress and my two sons and I have been looking for a project that has nothing to do with work... I hope someone see's this and buy's them.. thank Kelly

I don't blame you for wanting to build the frames. I bought my first set of plans (crackerbox) with the plan of a father and son project with my dad but he passed away. Enjoy your time with your sons it will be well worth it!!
Good luck with your build and post lots of pics :)

A builder has the right to sell forms that they made for a given design, but plans, patterns, and instructions may only be used by the original purchaser. The selling of plans, patterns and instructions is an infringement on copyright and licensing laws. Glen L will buy back unused and undamaged plans from the original purchaser. Those wishing to build a particular design will need to purchase their own set of plans directly from Glen L.
