Outboard motor insurance in Florida

Post by verniam » Tue Feb 14, 2017 6:11 pm

I'm buying outboards for my yet to be splashed Wildcat and Honda financing wants proof of insurance. Progressive Insurance (through USAA) does not insure home made boats nor outboards by themselves. Does anyone know an Insurance Company in Florida that insures 1. homemade boats and 2. outboards by themselves?

might want to check your home owners insurance.

many cover small out boards for theft( if its not been used this is all you really need assuming they are ok with that) they may have an option to give you a rider policy. I know they have for me in the past when I had the blown alky motor when I was rebuilding my runner bottom drag.

the boat was uninsurable. under 18', 900+ hp 130+ mph... i lifted at 117 and never got it wet again... sold it to a guy that was happy to get it.

i honestly was shaking for a good 45 mins after that pass.

Interesting. State Farm would not insure my Malahini. I never asked, but they might do the trailer and motor.
Anyway, I used Hagerty for the boat, motor and trailer.
Completed Malahini (launched 6/24/2012)
