I picked up that mahogany edge trim over the weekend and found a neat saw to use to cut out the hatch. Today I ran a test on how it will work out using my Mono-Coat trim iron. It works out really nice and sticks like crazy. The stuff is thick enough that I think I will apply it, stain it, finish it, and caulk it much like the big boat.

I put on the rest of the upper sub decking and trimmed out the cockpit shape. Later when Rich gets home, I will drill the holes for the pins that will hold the front of the hatch on. I need Rich to watch that I am drilling straight in. Then I will be able to cut the hatch out.

More pics later in the week. Tomorrow is too nice of weather so we go golfing..

Finished the sub-decking and cut the hatch out. This was a little trickier than cutting the big hatch out but I managed with too much blade wandering. A little more cleaning up and it will be ready for planking. Later I will start the motor and servo install.

How bout Stewart Little? He likes to drive fancy sports cars. You could also say that the boat has a big block "rat" motor.

Incase you thought I forgot about this project, I recently resurrected it. The running gear is now all in and tested with the radio control. I removed it all in preparation for bilge paint and to close up the rest of the hull and sub decking. All my glues dried up and we useless except some epoxy and resin so I need to get to a hobby shop or order on line. I have some fairing to do, but once that's done I can seal up the sub decking and hull planking and paint most everything white. Then on to decking and cover boards.

I'm trying to find 1/6 scale Riviera windshield brackets. I may need to make those.

25 below today with over 50 below wind chills. This is how Retired Wisconsinites deal with it.

Roberta,

Looks like the right way to deal with that kind of weather...

P.S. Is that B-17 airworthy?

No, the B17 is just a static display. It was a Guillow kit that I skinned with 1/64" plywood on the wings and tail feathers and tissued the fuselage but coated with epoxy and bondo. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow when it's light out.
