Water collecting on a boat cover

Post by Jimbob » Mon Nov 11, 2019 3:21 pm

I have always had to store my boats outside with a cover on them. The covers always collect water in the low spots. (cockpit area). I have tried poles with tennis balls on the end, and wood bows to hold the cover up so the water doesn't collect, but nothing ever worked that well. I think I finally found something that works. I got some 1/8" birch plywood and cut it so that it covers the cockpits, overlapping onto the curved decks. Since they are thin, the follow the curve of the decks, and cause the water to drain. The cover slides easily over my plywood covers. Working great so far.

The cover holds them in place and draws them down on the edges.
