I met a girl on Friday night and today I asked her out on a date.....and what did she suggest for a first date??? Only a boat-cruise down the Lagan river in Belfast! She sounds perfect so far lol!

A cruise in your Squirt David? It might be a bit cold at this time of year although that little cockpit is quite cosy with two in it, not much room for manoeuver though!

Well no, not in MY boat. There is a place in Belfast where you can go on a cruise down the river in their boat, its a kind of a touristy thing where they show you where the titanic was built etc etc......

Good to find a woman who likes boats, my wife loves them, just as long as I do all the work on them!
We held our wedding reception 15 years ago on one of the oldest wooden boats on the Thames, the beautiful 70' steamer Empress of India built in 1898, a day that both of us will remember for the rest of our lives (and not just for the boat!).

I think that would actually be very cool. I'd like to see where the Titanic was built.

Well it all started to go wrong when she cancelled the boat trip and wanted to go for a walk along the beach in gale force winds instead.

Then she told me she hated teachers, animals and old people (I am a teacher, I live on a farm with my mother).

Despite all this, I fell for her brown eyes and magical smile. The final nail went into the coffin tonight when she said that my faith in God wasn't good enough for her. (I'm a christian but apparently she only wants a christian who never ever ever ever has doubts about their faith)

I think I need to build another boat to console myself......maybe the "console Skiff"....get it? :shock:

David - - I am building the Thunderbolt - - slow but sure. It has never questioned my faith nor given me concern over rejection. Stick with boats. Boats are a lot less trouble and cheaper in the long run.

Dave, if we never ever had doubts about our faith, I don't think we'd be human. (See Saint Peter, just after Last Supper and before the Crucifixion) Faith is believing in spite of your doubts.

I guess I would take a slightly different tact in handleing this young lady..just take her out to the middle of the pond in the squirt and make her walk back.

Ah no, in fairness, she was a dead-on kinda girl. We just weren't compatible I suppose....kinda like trying to make epoxy resin work with polyester hardener....it just doesn't!

(since this is a boating forum, I feel the need to use boating metaphors!)

New Rule

All you single guys have to add pics of your dates to your online photo albums. That way the rest of us can save you so much heartache. I mean if she meets the approval of everyone here, she's a winner, right?!
