WOW Peter - you loaded up.

I thought I had killed my gun over weekend. I could not get it to cycle. Turned out I had a little epoxy in the slide channel. Don't know how that got there.

I'm building a plywood planked boat, but want to plane down 3/16" strips of mahogany veneer and cover the sides of the plywood like many of the classic design cold molded boatbuilder's do. The hull sides are planked with 1/4" plywood, so this is what I'd like to attach the veneer to. I'd initially planned to staple the veneer to hold it while the epoxy set and then remove the staples, but this looks like it may be a better idea.

Questions:
Would the raptor fasteners work well for this operation?
If so, what length and guage would you recommend?
I already have an 18 guage brad nailer and 15 guage finishing gun (Home Depot's Ridgid Brand). Will they work for this or is it necessary that I purchase the Omer tool?

And as always, I'm welcome to any other comments and suggestions regarding this.

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff

I can shoot the 5/8 brads, 18g, with my Porta Cable. They will break out the back side with a little splinter. If you can live with that, they will work great. They'll snap right off then you can seal inside.

The 18 ga. brads come in 7/16" length. They will hold 3/16" veneer and will not penetrate the substrate layer.

Jeff,

I would buy the Omer gun, you know that it is going to work, and if the gun you already have will shoot the raptor brads
use it for a back up gun. they will not work in my super cheap but then you get what you pay for,
I bought the Omer nailer and stapler they are well made and work well...
